with reference to osu and nc, and the people corrupting amateur athletics by providing cars/cash, etc:
there's an article today in the DP, about track star David Oliver, and they say he went from working at the nikestore, to now having 2 jaguars he can drive to practice. And he's prepping for the '12 olympics. I think I'm missing something

David Oliver is 29 years old. He worked at Niketown when he was in high school, and now he's a 29 year old professional athlete with nice cars -- what does that have to do with anything?

Pro track and field athletes can make a **** load of money in Europe.

I think you're looking for something that isn't there. Yes, there are some great athletes out there with excellent work ethics. Also, when you're one of the top hurdlers in the world, you can make a lot of money. It's just a story about someone who made it big and had to struggle at the beginning. It's nice to be reminded of those stories once in a while.

Pro track athletes can make a lot of money from sponsorship and endorsements and compete for medals in the Olympics.
