This is where Walter White comes by and explains that HCMB is totally relevant in college football, and isn't squandering the remarkable advantages he enjoys in Austin.
I should probably visit Shaggy and see how the other half lives. I'd love to have the luxury of bitching about the #24 ranked class in the nation.
But the writing is on the wall for The Horns. Aggy hired a dynamic new coach, moved onto a conference with more recruiting appeal and took care of business this year.

He pretends to be a totally rational (think Spock) being, who disdains the emotional world of sports. He decided to take an interest in CU because he pities us, but the glasses he wears feature burnt orange lenses, and he's unable to shake that world view.
Oh, and he loves Mack Brown.
Texas Athletics are in free fall. Mac saved his job when a donor who was close to Mac stepped up. Dodds is more or less checked out.
Let's be honest. "Free fall" is relative. Best facilities, broad spectrum of successful sports, quality academics and great town (filled with assholes, but a great town nonetheless). But yes, football seems to have slipped a notch...
Athletics have slipped more than a notch. They're almost at internal civil war like the CU was was 2 months ago. Nothing that couldn't be fixed quickly with leadership. Harsin wanted out so badly he took the Arky St job without visiting.

I am a UT grad, so obviously my team is Texas. That said, I've lived in Colorado for 12+ years and have a lot of ties to CU, including family ties. I go to a number of CU games, love Boulder, huge CU XC fan, and I'd love to see my kids go to CU when the time comes. CU is my #2 team.
That said, I often respond to the negative posts here about Texas and I do it in a combative way. I understand I'm on a CU site, but I do it anyway. Why? Why not?
As for Mack, I'd like to see him go ASAP, however, he's done amazing things for UT and his overall record at UT is surpassed by probably only a few coaches out there now: Saban, Stoops, Meyer, Carrol (sp?).
As for A&M, they are earning everything they're getting right now: exciting and aggressive play, great talent, great coaching, great line play, etc. A&M is most def trending up, and UT is most def trending down. I doubt that changes until MB is gone.

The problem is that Mack Brown won 10 games last year. It's hard to kick him out with that kind of record, but the results are still sub-par when you take a closer look.
Serious question: Do you believe that because a sliver of what is now Colorado was once part of the Republic of Texas, that the current state of Texas should have unprecedented access to that land?
I'm trying to properly place you on the scale of Texans I have known.
Also, do you have giant tits and curiously absent eyebrows? That question is actually related to the same project.

I think the NCAA system should re-work the scholarship concept. I'd like to see more of a free-agent system. Schools can cut any player at their option, and players, likewise, can transfer at the end of any season without any penalty. Free market.
If you sign a player and he turns out to be a bust, why does a school have to keep him for four years? Same goes for the players.

I know things are like this at the local McDonald's where you work but some place actually make you sign employment contracts.
It would be hard to find a school that has accomplished less with more than Texas under Mack Brown. Take out the title that Vince Young won them in spite of MB and you have a long string of top recruiting classes that have repeatedly come up short of expectations.
They have the biggest budget and are arguably located in the middle of the richest recruiting grounds in the nation and still have managed to screw it up.

Mack Brown had one hell of a run.
First he took over a horrible North Carolina program and had them ranked 5 of his last 6 years with some Top 10 finishes.
Then, he took over a 4-7 Texas team and won 9 games for 3 straight years followed by winning 10+ for 9 straight seasons.
It looks like he's at the end of his run, but I also think that it has gotten to the point where Mack Brown is called over-rated so much that he's become under-rated. He's had a Hall of Fame career.

Texas is gonna miss the hell out of Mack Brown. Pretty rare to have a guy that wins 10 games a year on average and takes you to 2 national title games. Even rarer to get two coaches of that caliber in a row. They are crazy to want to get rid of him - unless someone like Urban Meyer or Nick Saban wanted to come coach.
This may sound funny, but results aside, can you acknowledge that he's underperforming.
I'd argue his best coaching year was when they lost to 'Bama in the National Championship. That was a young team. But there have been a bunch of head-scratchers too.

fify. Beyond that, the jury is still out....
His biggest sin (and possibly, the only one that matters): Being unable to beat Stoops. Stoops just has Mack's number. Sometimes that happens though. Second sin: being owned by Kstate - it's just weird!
And no, I don't think he is underperforming, unless he has another year of less than 8 wins. It's a tough business, and down years are inevitable given that Texas's staff has been raided like crazy the last few years. Even Saban will eventually miss on a few classes in a row. Just give him 10 years to do it :lol:
