ACC to launch digital ACC Network with ESPN imminently, linear TV network by 2019

The grant of rights have also been extended thru 2036, so allegedly this kinda locks Notre Dame into the ACC if it has any intention of joining a conference in football in the next 20 years.

I hope that's true, but until one of these GoR's gets challenged in a court of law, I'm not sold.

I wonder if the payout ND would have to pay to get out would be substantially smaller since their football team isn't included and that is where the majority of the TV money comes from. I would think their lawyers would challenge that if they wanted to get out atleast.

I read somewhere awhile back they are now getting less per season from the NBC deal then they would be if they had joined one of the major conferences. Additionally, NBCs ratings for ND broadcast games are very bad which makes it unlikely that they will offer conference comparable money. Stranger things have happened but I think the two entities part ways and ND probably joins the ACC or somewhere else as a result.

If they had joined the Big Ten, and given the deal they just landed, ND would be making a lot more money.
