Admissions standards discussion #10,324,597. Doesn't belong in a recruit thread.

This is what is wrong with C.U. as far as building a great football team they can't get young men like KJ in to C.U. It has to change!

This wasn't on CU (it was a NCCA issue IIRC) but Jagne did get it but by time he was cleared, it was late into camp and grey shirting at the time was the better idea because honestly, in August, who expected Embree to get fired this season?

You don't know what you're talking about, CU wasn't the issue.

Well I do know what I'm talking about Every x C.U. coach talks about not being able to get players into C.U.

Yeah...you have no idea what you're talking about. Embree got in whoever he wanted.

Tini C.U. can't even look at Juco Football studs because of the snooty standards for the football team.

That's not true either. Richter and Ford both came from JCs.

If the admin was so restrictive we wouldn't have kids that other programs wouldn't touch (their reasoning being right or wrong) on the team like PRitch and Yuri Wright.

I am on point, The standards for the football team must return to the way they were for Mac, He was able to get in players that could never get in today. Per CJ he stated a 3rd of his class could not get into C.U. today.

what does that have to do with jagne and this thread? he was academically qualified.

Prop 48 ain't comin back.

Man how do UCLA, UW, Furd, Cal, Texas, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Florida, Georgia, etc ever win with those high standards?

You are arguing that CU's admissions standards are too harsh in Kisima Jagne's recruiting thread. He was set to enroll at CU in January (not idle speculation) and went with the hometown school with CU in limbo. Do you realize how weird this sounds?

I have heard CJ, Mac and others from that era make these types of comments. It's true. 1/3 of those players couldn't get in today. But, the same is true at Nebraska and other programs that relied heavily on Prop 48/42 partial qualifiers. That era is over. And in some ways, CU is ahead of the curve when you consider the changes being implemented by the NCAA regarding stricter JUCO transfer rules and stiffer penalties for not meeting APR & Graduation Rate benchmarks.

We can't go back, so we need to move forward. CU needed a culture change within the football program that could lead to sustainable success within the new dynamics of the situation.

Come hook or crook the Buffs fail to get players into C.U. It's the big picture folks. Do you think Alabama would get KJ into the football program? I think the answer is yes.

You may be able to make a point if you had any idea what you are talking about...

He was all set to enter the football program in January! What are you not getting about this situation?

If anything, CU stuck their necks out for Jagne when most/all schools backed off. He was always a grade risk.

You dumbass!

KJ got into CU. The issue was the NCAA clearinghouse taking way to long and school started by the time he was cleared by the NCAA. Nothing to do with CU.

It has been said 4 times in this thread already.

He was admitted and ready to go.

From someone whose been thru it and now help others to get thru it...its not CU. Core calculations are not being communicated from counselors or coaches to these kids. They get excited going thru the recruiting process and don't take the academics seriously. I did one the other day that's cumulative gpa was 3.85 but his core was 2.93. Now he is a qualified with his test scores but his dad was in shock at the drop. Of course I've had as low as a 1.83 in his senior year with it half over and will have to go juco...

With all the money being made by college athletics, the one glaring area they have failed to invest is in education of high schools on how colleges view a transcript... particularly the NCAA clearinghouse for athletes. It's confusing. Beyond that, most high school kids and their parents don't understand that 8 semesters with an "A" in PE and a bunch of other good marks in vocational courses are completely meaningless to the process even though those grades can put you in the top third of your graduating class.

Ok Im a dumb ass..All the ex C.U. coaches say they can't get players into C.U.. I give up. I wave the white flag, I will move to France. Like Alec Baldwin.

We weren't talking about other coaches or other players. Just this one.

Exactly! And the rules for the 2016 kids is worse and is going to cause more recruiting problems than coaches are ready for. With so much job movement it's gonna be a mess.

About the only thing i saw additional is CU requires more foreign language than NCAA and we didn't find that out until our official visit. Luckily we were already on track...yes American sign language does qualify and his hs requires foreign language to graduate.

Football team aside, I have no desire to see CU and Alabama mentioned in the same breath academically.

Juco or not, I'm just trying to decide if stars are a better way to evaluate, or offers?
