Alec Burks: #1 SG Prospect

Well, that pretty much seals it. Take care, Alec. It was a nice ride. Send money when you find work.

There was another interesting name from that list....

SLEEPERS: Xavier Silas, Sr., 6-5, 198, Northern Illinois

Just think how good this team would have been this year if Jeff didn't push off Silas & Veal.....could still be playing ourselves???

they all talk about how he can't shoot but can score. sounds just like the NBA.

Hope you're wrong, but if I'm Alec and reading this, I'm gone.

Very weak draft if Alec is the best #2 out there - no D, no outside game? Headscratch.

Bye Bye Alec. Make sure to send some of the cash back to the program that gave you the opportunity to show your talent!

thanks for the memories AB, good luck and pimp the Buffs in the league.

you wonder if we make the NCAA, lose in round one vs. AB going off in the NIT....if there might have been a chance for a JR season...

I kinda think that the only chance we see AB in Black-n-Gold next season is if he gets solid info, or someone convinces him, that there will be a lockout, and he wants no part of it.

If the time is right, and he decides to bolt for the $$$'s, then good luck and it's been a helluva pleasure watching him these last 2 years.

The deadline to declare is April 24th.... Should we put a countdown lock to that day somewhere?

Bz I think intentionally ran off Silas, and I don't blame him. Ever since he stepped onto campus, it seemed like there were character issues. It's good to see he's grown up a little, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him still being a cocky prick. I'm fine with Silas having done well at NIU instead...I bet his game is very limited though, and he's not a good teammate on the floor.

Veal, I think was unintentionally ran off. Bz recruited him well, but for whatever reason, he wasn't earning playing time, which made him want to leave. There were never rumors or signs (at least that I could tell) of Veal having been cancerous to the team, so I applaud Veal's accomplishments at VCU. I also wish he had stayed, whereas Silas...I could have cared less for.

Other question is if Silas (or Veal) had stayed who would not be here. They used those schollies for other players so it wouldn't be the Buffs we had this year plus, it would have been the Buffs of this year with one of those guys in place of. If Silas is getting lots of playing time either Burks or Higgins isn't likely to be on the floor. If Veal is here which bigger guy is not on the roster? Same questions.

I think the more important detail is if he hires an agent - I think he can go through the whole process, get drafted, and still come back if the lockout happens. The Draft occurs before the Lockout, but if he hires an agent he can't come back.

The NCAA may make some special cases this year because of that. Im guessing he would not be able to hire an agent, practice with the team, accept his signing bonus, or receive any endorsement deals of any kind then the players would be allowed to rejoin their college team. Would be a very fine line I am sure.

Last day to withdraw from the NBA draft is May 8th (if a player hasn't hired an agent). You miss that date, you're not going back to college. NBA Draft will be held on June 23rd.

Hopefully Alec gets good advice from NBA people. There was some conversation on ESPN that a lot of the bigger guys (Harrison Barnes, Sullinger, Brandon Knight) are probably more likely to stay because of the chance there will be a extremely shortened NBA season. Hopefully Chauncey will give Burks the right advice about what to do for next year.

With the threat of a lockout, I think he might stay.

You and I are thinking alike, and hoping for the same outcome.

Earlier to day Alec tweeted at Kevin Durant and then KD tweeted back asking whats up and Alec responded "I'm koo just tryin to make this decision..."

We'll see what happens. I'm guessing he'll test the waters and not hire an agent. But my gut feeling is that he leaves :( Hope I'm wrong though.

At least he is reaching out to some positive role models in the NBA and not getting advise from some sketchy players -Kevin and Chauncey are both great guys.

hell yeah, how can you not like Durant after what he did this past offseason.

on the OT sideshoot, on the "what if" game with Veal and Silas, don't forget Jeremy Williams who had a very nice career on some good UTEP teams. he avg'd double figures his JR and SR year. For all the talk about Silas being selfish and cocky, i had a colleague who had him in a class and said he was a pretty nice, down to earth kid. and a lot of the scholarship athletes aren't....and i don't mean just revenue sports. some of the women players i've had, are on another planet of self-importance.

Per Alec's Twitter a re-tweet from U of A's Derrek Williams most likely pertaining to all of the players declaring for the draft

RT @DWilluofA23: Damn.. Everybody leaving today..?! #NoSirNotMe
