Alec Burks No.1 in NbA draft preview

My feeling is that he must have dominated at those camps over the summer. Let's hope he has taken his game to the next level. If he has, then I see no reason he can't take this team on his back and get us to the Dance. He's got a pretty good supporting cast.

He isn't overly athletic, but has great body control to make the most out of his abilities. Still needs to add some size and strength, which shouldn't be a problem as he looks very young and seems to have a lot of natural room for growth. Still needs to improve his outside jumper and 3-point range, but has a smooth stroke so it should develop nicely. He is lengthy and huge upside even though he already averaged over 17 ppg as a Freshman. I believe he and Higgins were the second highest scoring duo in the nation last year. I can't wait for basketball season.

Just hope it doenst go to his head. I would say that Bz was a coach that wouldnt let his players become too much of head cases, but I dont know about Boyle. Being a new coach who likly hasnt had to deal with that kind of stardom before, it will be interesting to see how he manages it.

As a player at Kansas, I'm confident that Boyle has had his fair dealings with head cases.:smile2:

If Burks is/plays like a legit lottery pick, we are a 5-8 type seed in the Dance this year.

...you're not afraid of our big situation? I think Sharpe is the key to our improvement from last year, and if he is much better than Tomlinson, than yes, the potential is there to be an 8 seed...assuming Higgins is the same and Burks improves a little.

I for one think Burks has great talent, and is very athletic. However, I do not think he will be top five-ten at the end of the season. To be top5-10, you have to either oozing with athletic potential or just be an amazing stud on the court. Burks has some potential, but he is more of a stud on the court. He will have to improve a lot to have his court-play garner a top-10 pick in my opinion. I hope he does this season, but I'm thinking he improves marginally, not vastly, and leaves as a lottery pick in the teens.

i'm mos def afraid of our big situation. but 2 years ago Baylor was a 9 seed (I think) with only super stiff Josh Lomars and basically 4 guards with Jerrells, Tweety Carter, Dunn as a talented but wildly inconsistent FR, et al. no real 4 or 5 minus Lomars. I was a big fan of Jerrells but I like Burks and Higgins more as a tandem with Relphorde. "If" was also a big part of my post. Lottery pick playing with 2 very solid players like Higgins and Relphorde behind him....is a pretty dangerous combo. There are going to be a lot of conference teams we play where Alex and Higgins are the two best players on the floor....by a decent margin.

If asked to predict, you can find other posts where i say being on the bubble is about where i put this team. i'm trending optimistic today possibly out of frustration with the ongoing, never-ending, and infinitely repetitive Hawkins experience. If the league is as good as people think, 9-7 in conference puts us in the 8/9 range. If Burks blows up, who knows?

@the bolded part: This is what I'm counting on. On the whole those 3 played pretty well last season, and if it weren't for being so inept at rebounding we'd have been looking at a bubble team. They've got a year together under their belt, and gotta believe they'll be even better.

I'm bummed we couldn't be in the PAC:10 this year, we would probably finish top 3 in the conference
