Projected Starters
Nigel Williams-Goss - Potential NBA first round draft pick who will keep Huskies moving.
Andrew Andrews - PG by nature who has adjusted to the off guard role after addition of NWG.
Quevyn Winters - JUCO transfer who brings an outside shot that the Huskies will need this year.
Jernard Jarreau - Tore his ACL in the first 2 minutes of action last year, but should provide scoring for Huskies.
Robert Upshaw - Former top 50 recruit is a Fresno St transfer who is finally eligible.

Due to the injury to Jarreau last season, Washington was forced to go small a lot last year. Now that he's back, the Huskies have more options. In the front court, along with Jarreau and Upshaw, the Huskies have Shawn Kemp Jr and Donaven Dorsey who could get quality minutes. That said, the strength of their team is still their guards. Keep an eye on Darin Johnson and Jahmel Taylor - both should push the expected starters for playing time. It's going to be interesting because Lorenzo Romar is loved up in Seattle, but his seat is starting to get warm. I honestly don't think they'll be dancing, but they need to be in the conversation at least or Romar may be sweating.
 
Washington will finish 4th in the Pac-12 this year.

That's my bold prediction for the conference race.

Partly that and a big part of it is that I'm completely unimpressed with every Pac-12 team not named Arizona, Colorado or Utah.

Every team except Utah and Arizona has some massive question marks, so it'll be interesting. I just think that Washington has more questions than UCLA, Furd and CU personally.
 
I wonder if this will be Romar's last hurrah. I expect a middle of the Pac squad. One more season of that might lead to calls for change. Can't help but feel things have grown stale.
 
Romar has done more at UW than any other coach in recent history. They'd be stupid to fire him.
That said, I'm still holding a grudge over Spencer's injury. I want to freaking bury these guys both at home and in Seattle.

Well he has been there for more than a decade so there aren't any recent coaches to compare him to.

By "recent", I mean the last 40 years or so. I don't know what UW was like back in the stone ages, but I can't ever remember a time when they had a good team there until Romar came along.

If this is another year of missing the Dance (likely), it will be the 4th consecutive year. Romar had a 2 year down period from '06 to '08 and then recovered with a nice 3 year run. Washington is in OK shape and remains somewhat dangerous, but things just feel stale to me.
 
Romar is UW's Boyle. I can't imagine firing Boyle even if he had a few down years.
 
UW has clearly been an enigma the past few years but Romar is going nowhere. After being burned by too many 5* elites recently he's gone back to recruiting in a style that better fits UW. So far the 2015 UW class is outstanding and the best in years for UW, and if the recruiting momentum holds look for UW to be a force again soon.

This year, any finish between 2 and 12 would not surprise me. Probably somewhere in the middle of the Pac is where I'd guess.

If your head coach has 5+ losing seasons, you'd consider firing him to promote someone from that same staff (that has 5+ years of losing seasons) to the head coaching position?

Also, Washington's record over the last 5 seasons (losing seasons are highlighted in bright orange).

Thank you. Romar is being unfairly painted as someone who is losing. He built a program from nothing, took it to Tourneys and Pac-10/12 titles... and then he goes on the hot seat for a few NIT years? Please.
 
I don't think anyone thinks Romar will be plunging into losing seasons and going full-on Oregon State. The question is how long being a middle of the road Pac squad that's heading into an era where no player has experienced a Dance will be tolerated. This is a huge year for Romar. Romar has done a lot and gets deserved leeway as a result. However, I imagine UW has an expectation that they should be Dancing more often than not and consistently top 4/5 in the Pac. That isn't happening lately. If they get to 9-9 or so again, he'll likely remain.

They've been declining for 4 years and didn't even make the NIT last year. It is what it is. 2012 looks sexy until you remember the Pac was the weakest power conference arguably ever and Washington didn't Dance. At some point the guy has to make the Tournament again, and soon. Not sure what's so absurd about that.
 
It looks like Washington just pulled off it's arguably deepest recruiting class in history with the six verbals for the 2015 class (assuming it holds).

C Devenir Duruisseau 6'8" 240#
PF Malik Dime 6'10" 220#
SF Matisse Thybulle 6'6" 185#
SG Dejounte Murray 6'5" 175#
PF Marquese Chriss 6'8" 205#
PG David Crisp 5'11" 185#

If Haley from the 2016 class keeps his commitment and the above 2015 class commitments hold then I think Romar will have the Huskies dancing again very soon. There is a lot of momentum with recruiting right now for the Dawgs. We'll have to see if it translates into wins on the court, but don't count Romar out just yet, he's still great at developing players into NBA talent.

Can you explain why it is the deepest class ever? Is it because you signed 6 players? Are they all top 150 recruits or something?

For Washington it could be their deepest ever. By that I mean these recruits are all high quality players at positions of need for UW. Aside from the two transfers (Dime and Duruisseau) all of the guys are solid 4* recruits.

For all of the stink that UW basketball has been since CU joined the PAC, Romar absolutely nailed this recruiting class. I don't see how it could have realistically been any better for UW.

It doesn't mean squat until 1) the players sign and 2) the wins follow. The way UW is recruiting right now bodes very well for the team's near future. I'm finally getting excited for college basketball again...
