Another distraction

I'm not sure why this isn't a bigger discussion on here. It's a big deal if true.

I don't particularly care. Incident happened when he was a minor. Didn't seem to be any criminal intent. I'm unaware of any repeat of this type of behavior. Seems that Shilo bungled this once it came back at him after he became an adult with some money. If he was in the wrong, the guy deserves a settlement for his injuries. Sucks all around, but I don't feel strongly enough about anything here to have a big discussion. 🤷

How many times can you file bankruptcy, anyway?

It's not a bigger discussion here because it's a personal issue for Shilo that happened almost 10 years ago that is none of our business, and the fallout that is coincidentally coming back to him now is a financial issue that is again, none of our business.
I don't disagree with any of that. I suppose that if I'm another coach talking to parents I'd put it out there about Primes message of leading men, doing the right thing, and taking responsibility for your actions is all talk. It's on the recruiting trail where this could be important. I'll also say if this happened to a player from let's say Alabama, AllBuffs would be all over it with a guilty verdict. Just my .02 and probably worth less than that.

My thoughts (not that anyone should care)

- Shilo was 15.

- Sometimes HS security guards are too extra with younger/smaller people.

- With today’s problems within school campuses and action/reaction to these problems, students should be allowed to have cellphones on their person

- According to an article I read from USA Today, it seems the security guard basically won the judgment due to Shilo/his legal representation failed to show up in court, due to not receiving the notice from the court system.

- The dude is fighting back for an 8-figure judgement because he doesn’t “get how Shilo is bankrupt with all of the NIL money he is getting”

- After 9-10 years, and the alleged incident happening when the defendant was a minor, the story is only gaining traction because it seems the dude wants to be set for life, and the media is salivating to have an opportunity to put anything out to put modern college athletes and/or the Sanders family in a bad light.

My opinion

Bolded: Can you name a case where that's true?

My observation is quite different. The Shilo thing has shown up in several threads here.

I truly believe - based on observation - if this was an athlete from another school, even nebraska, the response would be "yawn, this happened 15 years ago, and now it's getting sorted out".

I'm often surprised that athletes from other schools aren't held more accountable on this site for their behavior. The exception is violence towards women, or tolerance for violence toward women.

Please provide examples of your assertion. I'm open to seeing this through different eyes.

Bottom line for me is that I'm all in on the Sanders family and the whole circus that goes with it
We knew this would be the case…the stew of young “entitled” athletes making money and decisions that affect their future, a confident black man as a HC, coaching his sons and a young, once-in-lifetime type, athlete that The Sanders family has befriended closely. They all came to a university with a football program that was in a 20 year coma…and told everyone currently there that didn’t want to compete day in/out, to cut their losses now, before practices and meetings began - on video. It’s all a recipe for the ones with a rosy complexion on the back of their neck to get up in arms.

Then the first season started to unravel…

This offseason has been a little more “fun”. It seems like the trolls are out in full force giving opinions on young kids that try to mimic Prime or the Buffs when they are playing/practicing football in videos on social media. Like they never tried to act their favorite athletes in some way when they were young.

Many of these kids want to be sure everything they do, is everybody's business - the constant posts and videos. Look at me!
This is relevant and there is no reason not to talk about it. You are arguing a kid's character and behavior are off-limits? Ha.
The troubling thing is nobody (including CP) got Shilo to prepare for or show up at the trial. What were they thinking?

I’m not saying it’s off limits by any means. If you’re interested in the subject, feel free to have the discussion. I’m simply saying this is a personal incident from almost 10 years ago that Shilo is going to have to deal with the repercussions of now because of mistakes he made. It doesn’t affect this team, nor should it.
