Every year I feel as if hte season REALLY begins when we play good opponents.

CSU just doesn't count. It's fun, it's usually a W towards bowl eligibility, but it just doens't always seem real.
Like playing New Hampshire next week or whomever it is....it's just not THERE yet...close though.

Tomorrow will be fun. It will be a tough fought game, but I expect to win. Fully expect it. But a P5 team is always more fun to watch rather than an MWC team.

I was born and raised in CO. Not playing CSU and not having Neb (other than these 2 years) just takes the fire away. We will have NO rivalry games without CSU. Not wanting to beat the tar out of them every year is just stupid. So many people are like "we need to play better teams that matter" B*tch shut your mouth. Alabama plays like 3 or 4 div 2 (or might as well be div 2) teams every year cause it is the W that matters.

That's not what I was trying to imply.
I was just saying that the juices don't get going as easily for those other teams. Love beating CSU! Always want them on the schedule but
the games like this weekend really seem to be when the season REALLY starts.

Maybe I'm not getting my point across good enough.

I will say that I'm more excited for this game than I've been in a LONG time. A week has never gone so slow.

I do think that playing on the Friday before the first real Saturday of college football feels a little different.

Like many here, I'd love to play mid-day on Saturday on big networks. We get that opportunity tomorrow. The number of games like that is correlated to how often you win.

Go Buffs! Can't wait til kick-off.

I always get keyed up for CSU but it's a very different feeling than the games the rest of the season. It's more of a test to be passed or an event to get behind us to get on with things. There is no chance for happiness in it. Best outcome is relief.

I am going to be hard to be around when we beat KnU senseless.

csu is the first game so I'm always most interested to see new players as well the new coaches..my interest ends there.
This season the nub game has a different feel to it than when it was a yearly game one that is underlying...which school has benefited most by changing conferences. Neither can say 'we've dominated' both can say they make more money. The P12 should rub the b1g's nose in it after the Buffs take care business on national TV, it's preseason 4th place pick in the South going on the road beating the brand that the b1g took in meant to strengthen and expand footprint. The b1g has a healthy respect for CU IMO more so than the P12 to date (justly so), the 16 loss to Mich didn't diminish that respect.
knu bugged out<pun intended of the B12 in large part because it believed it's brand was as valuable as UT & OU's...they were mistaken. The knu brand is worth less now than it was then, tomorrow they'll try to convince themselves it has a greater value because they're playing us.
To add a little aura to the game..I'll be eating turkey and the trimmings and afterwards I'll get to say 'I hope the money was worth it'.

I do...

But speaking of New Hampshire.

I grew up in Maine. I never really cared about UMaine football that much, they weren't ever on TV, and Orono was a good hour and a half away from my house. Still, I'd check in on them sometimes, we'd go to the team store once in a while and I'd get excited to see alumni in the NFL or MLB.

They sort of suck though. It's just not a football school.

Last week though, they beat the breaks off UNH 35-7.

Wonder what will happen when they face CU.

I miss having rivalries, but I just don't see CSU as a rival. The only feelings we get out of that game is great pissedoffness if we lose and relief if we win. Even this year, as excited as I was to see us step it up against them, it was tempered by the knowledge that holy **** CSU is awful.

The Nubs try to give us the same treatment that we give CSU, but try as they may, it is different. Or at least was different. From 1989 through 2007 or so (whenever Hawk torpedoed us), almost every CU-Nub game meant something, for one team or the other, often both. I understand that they considered OU their main rival in the Big 8, but by the end of our mutual time in the Big 12, they hated us. And we hated them. The game mattered.

Now, for a lot of our younger set, it's not that big of a deal. Partly because of both schools moving conferences, but mainly because we sucked and dropped so low that the CSU game was competitive year in and year out.

But for us that know better, that remember 1989 and 1990, remember the heartache of 1999 and 2000, and remember the sheer, explosive, almost orgasmic experience of 62-36 and the pride in knowing that we lit the match that burned that mother****ing program down, there is no greater joy than beating the Bugeaters in front of their hypocritical, delusional, toothless, meth-addled fans.

God damn I'm excited for tomorrow!

I was a season ticket holder in 90 as a point of reference: #8 Tenn, Stanford-H, #21 Ill, #22 Texas, #12 Udub-H. Every week my gut was in knots before the conference even started. After that OOC the Big 8 was anti climactic and in retrospect as a fan it was some damn good football to watch because there were so many future NFL players on the field.

Indeed, the Nubs can go **** themselves for all time.
I actually think they have a good, stand up coach now, but still **** that fanbase.

Bitch shut your mouth. **** CSU and their ****ty veterinarian college. They’re not a rivalry, they’re a 25 year old speed bump that’s been whittled down to just a flat, yellow spot. It’s still yellow and it thinks it’s like the others but everybody knows it’s a wannabe that will never be relevant.
