Arizona: next bubble to burst?

AU started out the year looking awful. Nevada and UTSa were BAD... Beat much improved Cal in hail Mary.

beat Oregon.

given nod on svp to go undefeated. Declared "on fire" by ESPN.

what am I missing? Is this not still the most winnable game left on the buffs schedule?

First, it's UA, not AU. University of Arizona. AU is Auburn.

Second, you are right on the mark. I am from Arizona and their fans are going nuts but they haven't done anything but beat a very mediocre, over-confident, under-coached Oregon team.

They will end up middle of the pack. No better.

I think they survive USC Saturday night.....USC has no depth, and its showed against ASU and BC. After that, Arizona will start to lose football games........That #10 ranking they have is absurd. Almost as if the AP poll voters don't care now that they know their poll doesn't mean anything.

Absurdly low? I'm trying to figure out how an undefeated UA that won at Oregon is ranked behind a Michigan State team that lost at Oregon.

Arizona went in and punched Oregon right in the mouth. Zona can beat the best, but they can also lose to the very mediocre. Rich rods teams are honestly the Cardiac Cats.

UA should be rated ahead of MSU. PAC is very unpredictable, accordingly I think USC gets em just cuz.

Also think we give USC a game and have a shot. But little early for that pending stress.

Unless we get better at stopping the run, we'll be in trouble against UA. I do think the Cats lose some games pretty soon. Not sure about USC in Tucson, possible loss. I think they lose at UCLA and Utah. Arizona State is another one they may very well drop. I'll admit if I'm wrong at the end of the season, but as of now I feel this is more like a 9-3 Arizona team, not 12-0.

Does RR bolt after this season? I doubt he could lead arizona to the promise land, but there might be jobs opening up that he could make some serious noise with

If a job east of the Mississippi pops up that he views as a step up, he'll be gone without a doubt.

I agree Arizona is one of the 2-3 "most winnable" games remaining. I'm still not convinced they are a Top 25 team, let alone a Top 10 team (which is different than saying they shouldn't be ranked where they are right now). They beat UTSA, Cal and Nevada by a combined 14 points, with two of those games at home and 7 of those points coming on a Hail Mary. They simply have Oregon's number. RR has figured out how to beat Helfrich.

Their team has a lot of confidence right now and Tucson will be a mad house Saturday night, but USC has more talent. The next week at WSU won't be a walk in the park. @UCLA and @Utah are very likely losses. As much as it pains me to say it, ASU with Kelly is better than Arizona. I don't think we'll beat Arizona, but wouldn't be shocked if we did. Arizona finishes no better than 8-4 IMO.

I feel like UA's ranking is less about how good a team people believe they are and more about trying to save face for the playoffs. Right now the validity of the playoff system is under close scrutiny and UA is one of the few remaining P5 unbeaten teams. The pollsters don't want to have a team that currently has a potential of being one of the 4 playoff teams (based on record) ranked 17th or 20th because it kinda makes the playoff evaluation system look broken.

Arizona will end up losing 3 or 4 games before the season is over. They're no more of a threat to make the 4-team playoff than undefeated Georgia Tech is.

Oregon and Ucla have the same problem, brutal olines. Arizona is much better than I thought but I need to see them a few more times to have no doubt believing in them.

I don't know if we'll beat them or not, but they are definitely living a lie - they have no shot at going undefeated, or going to the CCG.

How is that even possible with all those great 4 & 5 star recruits, both teams relish/brag about signing? Poor coaching and development?

Oh......right! Those "stars" are awarded by a bunch of computer-jockey geeks intent upon selling their services and magazines to a gullible public!

Their other wins are over Nevada, UTSA, UNLV (who needed a missed chip shot field goal to survive Northern Colorado), and Cal. Cal might be improved, but beating a team like that on a Hail Mary after spotting them a large lead shouldn't win you any brownie points. Like Aviator said-RR owns the Ducks. Much like we own Mike Leach.
