I'm really hoping to see us get back to the winning ways of #tadball. I've given up on offense. Screw trying to win games by 20 points. Let's go back to getting a 10 point lead with 8 minutes left and then resting on offense while holding on for dear life. Just win, baby.

Amen ... but I wouldn't kick the points out of bed either if coherent half court sets begin to magically appear at the keg.

My biggest hopes for this are:

1.) Fortune seems to fit the scheme of our offense better than Ski does. He can shoot from outside and has a midrange game whereas Ski had to drive. That should hypothetically open the middle for Josh a little bit.
2.) George King continuing his "Seven Seconds or Less" act off of the bench. Hopefully it isn't that bad, but it does get the bench unit to actually shoot the ball occasionally - something they seemed to forget to do last year quite often.

I see it the same.

Fortune is also a defensive stopper on the perimeter, which the team sorely missed last season.

Regarding the bench scoring, one made 3 from the bench can carry a few minutes of rest for the starters. Anything over a point a minute when the bench is in and they're very probably winning those minutes for the Buffs. That would be huge.

I'd love to see us back in the dance, but even if that doesn't happen, I really hope Josh stays healthy and has a monster season. Like being in the discussion for P12 POY and All-America consideration.

He has the talent and the drive to make that happen. A lot will depend on his teammates, however. Switching Fortune for Ski should help. Dom growing up quickly will help.

Josh has been a great Buff and deserves to leave on a high note, not that bull**** we saw last season.

Notable quotes:
King gonna get minutes:
King came in as a slender 6-5, 205-pound guard/forward from San Antonio, but is now a robust 6-6, 220 pounds with much more upper-body definition. While it’s obviously too early for any pronouncements, King looked good in the first practice and is expected to challenge for significant playing time if not for a starting spot.
There's your sixth man, @Goose
Return of #Tadball:
“We’ve got to take care of the basketball. Turnovers were a big Achilles heel for our team last year,” Boyle said. “We’ve got to get back to Colorado basketball. Our values are defense and rebounding. Our goal every year is to be in the top three in the league in field goal percentage defense and rebounding, and we’ve got to get back to that. If we do those three things, we’ll be all right.”

But, wait! new wrinkles on O AND D? Maybe Tad's crack research team has developed, after a two year gestation process, how to deal with a double team?

Instead, the Buffs began the process of installing some new wrinkles offensively and defensively, as well as reinforcing the tenets that produced success in Boyle’s first four years in Boulder: defense, rebounding and taking care of the basketball.

Love King as a sixth man. That bench needs someone who is willing to take control and I think he will. Interesting to hear his size too - curious if @jgisland 's prediction of having him be more of a PF than a SF comes true.

We don't talk about his rebounding as much these days. The fact that he was the most prolific rebounder on the team his freshman year had kind of slipped my mind. He was almost Dre-like in the minutes he played. Very exiting to hear the news of his added length and (hopefully) muscle.

This only works if you have a Burks/Mayor type of player on the court. If not the coaching staff needs to be more creative on the offensive end. Its my biggest worry going in to the season.

Always excited for the start of hoops season! Good to see all the media surrounding the first day.

I'm just flabbergasted. The starter? After one day of real practice? Did Tre stab somebody?

Josh said last night that Fletch is one of the guys who has really impressed him with his improvement from last year. Said that he's a sharpshooter now.

If true - first, holy sh!t - that's your starter at SF.

I love Rothstein, but let's wait until a local guy reports it to take it as gospel.

That said, if King is starting, I almost wonder if it's at the 4. He's bigger now and maybe Tad wants to maximize floor space for Josh. I'm a huge Wes fan, so I'm not sure I'd agree with it but it seems to make a little more sense to me than King starting at 3.

As much as I give King a hard time nobody wants to see him succeed more than I do. As @Goose alluded too, I'd love to see him be a monster PF, it doesn't look like it's shaping up like that, but maybe by the time he leaves he'll be that 240lb college version of Charles Barkley I have in my mind.

And no way Tad's anointing a starter in day 1 of practice. I don't see him starting over Tre, you need 3 ball handlers out there, Tre hardly fits that and last time we saw King in action he definitely wasn't that guy, but maybe he has worked on his ball handling skills.

The other outside possibility is that Tad realizes that Wes is too passive when he's on the court with Scott, King is that monster PF I want him to be and he starts at the 4. Wes comes off the bench and dominates with the 2nd unit.

When Rothstein reports on something WSU, he's correct nearly 100% of the time. He does his work on reporting, and I've never noticed him to be someone just spouting off crap without have talking to someone in the program if not straight from HC mouth. Especially if he's citing Boyle in the tweet.
