BCS Quality on our Roster vs. CSU, et al...?

I have been wondering about this for a while and decided to look up the # of BCS offers for our starting team today.

Offense:
(Note: I included Colorado as a BCS offer)
QB: Connor Wood-9
WR1: PRich-8
WR2: Spruce-3
WR3: Goodson-1
LT: J. Harris-6
LG: K. Crabb-3
C: Handler-3
RG: Munyer-1
RT: Nembot-8
TE: Fernandez-0 (believe he was a Walkon and had no BCS scholarships)
RB: Powell-5
FB: J. Murphy-0

Total BCS offers for our starting offense: 47

Defense:

DE Juda Parker:3
DT Josh Tupou:1
DT Nate Bonsu:9 (not including BYU)
DE Uzo Duribe: 1
LB Addison Gillam:1
LB Derrick Webb- 2
LB Paul Vigo-1
CB Ken Crawley-20+ (lost count after 20:) Actually it skews the total so much I cut it off at 20
S Jered Bell-1
S Parker Orms-1
CB Greg henderson-1

41+ but of course half of those are Crawley! Clearly we have more studs on offense per recruiting rankings.

No way in hell I am going through the CSU roster to do the same thing but we could probably safely guess they would probably have very few players with BCS offers b/c they would have gone to a BCS school if they had the chance.

Just for shi+s and giggles, you should add in Y Wright

If someone else does this in the time I'm typing this out I'm gonna be pissed.

Which ones are JC transfers? Haven't they been stocking up in that category?

Tonga and Edwards both are. They also have a backup RB Kapri Bibbs who joined from the most recent signing class and he's 3rd on the depth chart.

I think we saw today what happens when a well-coached team with decent talent plays a "well-coached" (I am assuming) team with lower-tier talent.

CSU is not a well coached team. McElwain is a fraud, and he is recruiting worse than Fairchild

Seems like kind of a putz. Some other teams talking to him after Bama's success dodged bullets. Hilarious that the ewes are now stuck with him.

Some of the sheep fans are already talking about replacing him.

Don't think it's happening soon. They broke the bank in relation to their budget for his contract. Be hard for them to eat that contract and pay another coach this quickly.

I think it is too early to say that he is a bad coach. First of all Saban hasn't hired too many bad ones I don't think. Second, he inherited a bad team and is only 1 season and 1 game into rebuilding. Today he played a team that has WAY better talent across the board and played a well-coached team, and actually had a chance to win. I wouldn't trade HCMM for him, but it seems a bit premature to throw the towel in on that guy.

CSU graduates most of their talent this year. The oline is gone. Cory James and Shaq Barrett are gone. Recruiting is not good. Things look ominous for them. Their athletic department hugely overspent on coaches and I doubt they draw more than 20M for the rest of the year. :scared2:

For all his faults, McElwain is as good a coach as CSU should ever expect. It's just not a good job, so they're going to have to learn to live with below average coaches and fall in love with the mediocre ones.

They are stuck because of their low attendance, lousy conference payouts, and lack of donations.

If they get a bad coach they can't afford to fire him and eat the contract. Get a good coach who is successful at a place like CSU and they can't afford to keep him when other bigger schools come calling

We don't have WAY better talent across the board. McElwain inherited Fairchild's players, and Fairchild has been a superior recruiter. He is graduating most of his talent this year also. I didn't see any names that appeared tonight that make me worried going forth.

Did you not see the 1st part of this thread comparing the starters for both teams?
