Texas A&M makes a jump this week, but Colorado's win over Kansas State is the other big headline on the bowl front for the Big 12. Thanks to the Buffs' win, Kansas is now the only team in the Big 12 who won't get at least a chance to play for a bowl game. Texas Tech and Iowa State got theirs on Saturday, and the Red Raiders joined the ranks of the bowl-eligible with a win over Weber State.
Next weekend, Colorado and Texas will play as underdogs with five wins, hoping to keep their seasons alive against Nebraska and Texas A&M, respectively.
The Aggies jump is on the strength of their five-game winning streak, which has featured two wins over top 10 teams. That, plus their proximity and wide alumni base in Dallas, make them a more attractive option to the Cotton Bowl than two-loss teams Nebraska or Missouri, even with three losses. A loss to Oklahoma State in the Big 12 title game would give Nebraska three losses, as well.
Of course, just like every week, teams can throw a wrench into all of this. Colorado, Texas and Oklahoma will have a chance to shake things up next week.
Tostitos Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma State vs. BCS
AT&T Cotton Bowl: Texas A&M vs. SEC
Valero Alamo Bowl: Nebraska vs. Pac-10
Insight Bowl: Oklahoma vs. Big Ten
Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl: Missouri vs. Pac-10
Texas Bowl: Baylor vs. Big Ten
New Era Pinstripe Bowl: Kansas State vs. Big East
TicketCity Bowl: Texas Tech vs. Big Ten
