He wasn't great, but he wasn't bad. Sure as hell wasn't as bad as to not play him more. Dude made some clutch grabs. The KSU long bomb, and one that really comes to mind that wasn't even in that video is the 03 CSU game where he caught a 3rd down pass one on one against a taller CB along the sideline (similar to Pritch's catches in the 90 NU game and 91 OB). That catch set up the winning td by Purify.

You gotta remember that the '03 team had Hackett and McCoy. Maybe Bloom could have played a little bit more, but I am not sure there was a ton of playing time to be had. His only other year he played here in '02, we were a running team with Brown and Purify because we did not want Hodge trying to win football games.

More than anything, Bloom was a nice weapon in the return game.

Good video, wrong interpretation. Bloom was a great 3rd receiver and returner. That's it and that's what the staff used him as. We all love the bombs and Bloom gave them to us. But, he couldn't do anything other than a fly route or a punt return. Embo was his position coach in 2002 and the right choice was playing McCoy and Hackett ahead of Bloom.*

I remember this game. ****ing FG kicker missed like 4 times from manageable distance, totally killed our chances in this game.

Sort of echoing what BB said, please bear in mind that his quarterback in '02 was Robert Hodge, who's probably most famous for throwing this pass during the 2001 Big XII Championship game. No offense to him as a person, but the offense they ran that year (run as often as possible, throw up 40 yard bombs when all else fails) was about all that his skill set could handle.
