For those of you that were at yesterdays Sackygate, I was proud of the way quit a few of us gave our two cents worth back to those clowns. Especially the one who proclaimed "he was the law" but couldn't cite what the law was regarding the location of the tailgate. His only worthless debate were the open containers and that there is a law stating we needed to move off of the grass and onto the pavement. Hmmmm His other minions seemed to be a little more reasonable to communicate with. Anyway, I sent a letter/e-mail (again) off to the AD this morning going into great detail about how this kind of behavior is completely counter productive to many of the goals their trying to achieve. If the AD actually responds, I'll post it. I hope that others within that tailgating community responded with their displeasure to the AD in writing as well. Other than that, it was still a great tailgate. Hope to see everyone again next week for the final home game.

I was very angry for a while. I got over it. This is just CU being CU. Sh*t all over the very people you depend on for your existence. I expect a lot of people will voice their displeasure with the athletic department, and nothing will be done at all. They don't care. Never have. Never will.

It's like the wind caused the cops to get a burr up there ass.
They came over puffed up their chests and then left.
Nobody said **** about the last tailgate. The SWAT tailgate next door was selling **** for Dick Shiner day.
Surprised Depty Dawg didn't bust that up failure to collect sales tax

It's sad that they are harassing the few people left tailgating. CU just doesn't want people showing up to the games and it's starting to show.

How were the lines going in?

here's a link to the tailgate rules. i'm not sure how what you described violates any of these rules. http://www.colorado.edu/pts/sites/default/files/attached-files/Tailgating.pdf

Thanks for the link Liv. Something for further discussion with the AD might be, How do these tailgating rules compare with other P-12 schools rules and how are they enforced. Yes, we always have open containers, but how about the open containers, alcohol served, consumed, and brought in by those who tailgate at Franklin next to Folsom? Franklin is a gated grass field with no pavement. So, if there's no pavement, why are chairs, coolers, etc, allowed on the grass at Franklin? Just sayin. On the surface, it appears that enforcement is arbitrarily enforced.

Arizona State: Beer and wine only. https://cfo.asu.edu/pts-parking-football#tailgate

Utah: "Responsible consumption" allowed. http://stadium.utah.edu/information/sportsmanship/alcohol.php

Washington State: Alcohol or open containers prohibited. http://www.parking.wsu.edu/GamedayTailgating.html

Washington: Must have a proper permit to consume alcohol. http://gohuskies.com/pdf9/2460888.pdf

Oregon State: Alcohol allowed, not well defined from what I read. http://risk.oregonstate.edu/alcohol-service

Tired of looking more. Interesting that the most liberal rules appear to be those at Utah.

pretty sure the issue isn't grass VS pavement- it's that the grass next to student housing is considered too close to student housing
rather dumb IMHO

I was waiting for Sacky to get tazed and hog tied.

I was thinking it was a "keep off the grass" thing. That, maybe, they don't want the grass trampled on. But as I walked toward the stadium there is that huge fenced off thing that has all kinds of tents set up on the grass. Then I thought, maybe it is a no alcahol on the dorm premises thing. But, then, why would it be OK to stand 6 inches off the grass by the dorm bike racks? And why wait until the 5th damned game to enforce it?

Why not aim higher than P12 rivals?
I give you LSU and Texas Tech. Notice the lack of nanny state overly legal language pertaining to alcohol.

Christ, seems like the frequency of this harrassment is increasing. I hope sacky was able to get in his victory Red Stripe postgame.

Nice research! Yes, Utah is trying to show there responsible drinkers. Riiiiight! UW, wonder what the name of that permit is? OSU is vague. Anyway, I wonder if the admins @ CU have looked at these policies? Probably not.

At UCLA/Rose Bowl they don't allow tailgating after the game has started, which I thought was interesting. We also almost got a ticket for having one of our tables three feet out of our designated tailgate area.

Even funnier, I was sitting in the 4th row, 50yd line on the CU sideline. Sometime in the early fourth quarter our security friends told us that the coaches had requested that people "Stop yelling players names".....?? There was no cursing, nothing derogatory, just cheering the guys on by name.

Section 118 East side, 50 yard line. Security was prowling up and down the aisles looking for something (drinking?) in the 2nd half. You'd think they wouldn't want to toss any of the 50 fans left in my section...

Tailgated on East side of Parking Garage for first time (where we parked for basketball game). Good wind block. Cops strolled by several times and were friendly. My group is in their 50's, but had a few college kids there at all times (under 21 and not drinking). Never said a word to us... Perhaps a little profiling going on?

Boulder and CU Police have always been heavily populated with "Barney Fife/Junior G-Man" types"---especially the CU Police! Have to make the occasional federal case, since they're tired of busting bums and transient hippies on the Mall or on the Hill. They get real crimes to stop or solve once every five years or so, and even when they do, they blow it, like they did with the Ramseys and Sid Wells' murder! Thane Smika anyone?

Fortunately, like Barney Fife, I heard they're issued only one bullet each for their Tupperware Glocks.

Sacky's REAL issue was he didn't have any free donuts to hand out!

Buffenuff - Good idea. I'll bring a box to the last Sackygate and mark them for Boulder/Campus police only. Then maybe they might look the other way as they did at Buffaholics tailgate

Oh brother, rather Big Brother!! Just let us drown out our sorrows before the game begins. Wait till CU is winning and relevant again before trying to drive all the real fans away. Campus police.... did Roscoe and Enis have their dog "flash" with them?
