Boulder gameday routines

OK, Buffs. Besides tailgating activities that include getting loaded, bitching about bike racks and concealing unspecified activities from the campus police, what personal gameday routines or traditions do you have for Buff football games at Folsom?
  • nostalgic stroll across campus? hike at Chautauqua or El Dorado Canyon?
  • breakfast at The Buff?
  • overpay for new branded CU merchandise at a university licensed retail spot?
  • work a barstool at the Dark Horse while watching the earlier games?

I park at East campus and walk the Boulder bike path along side the creek to the stadium. It's fun walking with all the other fans. Gets a bit scary leaving after a night game though. **** is dark and the homeless can get aggressive.

I always liked to park on the hill by the cemetary just to walk through the hill and campus. It is far but fun to do once or twice a season.

Then on the hill grab a new t-shirt every year and some fod and drink. My buddy has an office right on the hill so that is a decent meeting spot and we can watch a game on his tv.

When the weather turns a cold we sometimes go to the Buff for Breakfast before the game. Normally we tailgate on campus and walk a short distance to the game.

Park at sea mammal's house, head to Sackygate, enjoy game, enjoy illegal Pete's. Repeat.

Gameday routines? I always enjoyed winning. Looking forward to doing that again with some regularity.

Before: Get really drunk in anticipation for game
After: Get drunk again to forget game

Show up 4 hours early to Sackygate. Drink.
This. park on the hill so you can get out of town relatively quickly and also enjoy the walk up the hill with the crowd after victories.

I forget what that's like, a little bit.

I actually park on Aurora across from the Farrand fields. Easy in and out, and can either catch Foothills or Arapahoe to git outta there.

I like to arrive early and watch the band in the field house. Also, not technically game-day, but I like the Pearl Street Stampede on the night before. A good chance to show support and the kids love seeing the fire engine, Chip, the band (again) and the team.

Fly into DIA on day before the game.
Have dinner with the parents in Saudi Aurora.
Get on the road to Boulder by 8:30AM on Sat AM, no matter the kickoff time.
Stop at Whole Foods on 92nd and 36 for cold beer and brats.
Whenever I crest the hill and see Boulder for the first time, it is my own bizzare little custom to sarcastically declare "descent to hell" followed by a maniacal laugh, all while the car plummets down the grade. Park on campus.
Meet up with friends on Franklin Field and commence the tail gaiting.
[strike]throw piss ballons and marshmallow filled nails at visitor section. Maybe trip up an opposition's grandmother[/strike]
Be sure to take seats early enough to watch Ralphie run. Watch the whole game to the very end.

When the Buffs win, head to the hill for beer and pizza. Sink, Abos
When the Buffs lose, retreat for dinner/drinks at Boulder Dushanbe Tea House or Ras Kassa's Ethiopian Restaurant. Both venues have exotic decor and a unique menu that helps quickly remove the taste of defeat.
Head back to Aurora after the traffic has thinned.
Fly home early enough on Sunday morning to enjoy what's left of the weekend with the family.

Can't go wrong with Half Fast before games.

I get there early enough to see the band warm up, typically watch them in the field house, and then get into the stadium to watch team warm ups and pregame/ralphie.

Once a year will go to The Sink 3 hours before kickoff for burger and beer and watch some crappy Big 10 game (Indiana vs Michigan or similar)

Take a shower, brush my teeth shave and get dressed. That's about it for me.

Check the sackygate thread to see what i was supposed to bring to the tailgate and completely forgot to get. Stop at store on way to campus.

I looked, what the hell did u forget? I couldn't find it. Dbt that's a nursing home routine.

Honestly, I don't have a routine other than to decide what Buff gear I'm going to wear. I guess my routine is to wear Buff gear on every game day, including basketball whether I'm going to the game, watching on TV or, SINCE I HAVE DIRECTV :sad2:, listening on the radio.

Park at East Campus, take the shuttle bus. Try and make it in time for band in fieldhouse, but have been running later and later coming from South metro burbs. Hit up a friends tailgate for one game in Sep or Oct.

Get to the lot 169 about 3 hours prior to the game and set up my grill and cook for about 10-15. Drink a ton of Crazy Neighbor beer and have a great time. Take the short walk up to the stadium just in time to see Ralphie Run and get on with the game. Finish with some beers in the lot to let traffic clear a bit and hit the road.

About once a season we walk thru the campus and hit the hill. Look to pick up some new gear and wear it to the game. Have a fun time seeing the ghosts from my past wondering thru the campus in my mind and enjoy the memories.

Bend my girlfriend over the couch, do her then get a drink and enjoy the game from the couch...maybe at half time do her on the couch again then get more drinks.

I hate to think what Skiddy's going to be like when he's an old man and gets stuck in his ways.

You shave on gameday?!?!?!

never been to a sackygate, but that feeling of "i haven't completed my action item prior to the commit time" sounds so familiar

Leave at half time and stay at the tailgate.
this is first post of yours I can recall wanting to neg rep. CU gives halftime passes -- no reason not to slam a couple and get your ass back inside.

I like the idea of a gameday two'fer, but you lose points watching the game from the couch, doesn't matter if it's you sitting in the wet sort or making her sit there.

Dbt is a hockey guy too, shaving on gameday. No wonder we've sucked the last decade. Good job peckerwood. Lvbuff has a better idea.
