Bowl attendance numbers with comparison to last year

It does not include the title game and I will post that later, but the difference in stadium size between Jerry’s World and University of Phoenix Stadium would make it not apples to apples. Jerry World without its capacity to expand to 105,000 (normal football is 80,000) is 16,600 bigger than Univ of Phoenix Stadium.

Not counting the two new bowls the comparison in overall attendance of the 38 bowls that were played this year and last year showed an overall increase of 37,207 or 979 per game. If you look at the differences either in an increase or a decrease IMO most cases where the location of the schools involved. 24 saw increases and 14 saw deceases.

The 8 bowls that had PAC 12 teams this year and last saw a -6,354 drop from last years.
The 2 bowls were PAC 12 teams replace conference that did not have enough teams had 2,591 increase
The Fiesta Bowl that has a PAC 12 team last year, but not this year has a 4,227 increase.
In total the 10 PAC 12 Bowls saw a -3,763 decrease over last year games.

Below are the numbers of all 40 bowl games. Again these are the attendance numbers provided from the bowls, I have no way of knowing if it is tickets sold or butts in seats.

Foster Farms decrease is very surprising. But I guess Nebraska doesn't travel like they used to now that they're in a conference that requires airfare and real travel expenses to see regular season road games.

Best fans in the world... Until they lose a bit or travel via air

Thought the same till I realized Stanford played in the game last year and it's in Santa Clara.

And **** nebraska!!!!

quick and dirty overall impression:
1. Teams with a tradition of bowl games > teams without
2. P5 > G5 > Others
3. Being within driving distance > most fans need to fly

If at least one team checks all three boxes, attendance is usually great; if neither team checks any of them, attendance is dismal.

Now that you put out good stats, you need to browbeat everyone and tell them how wrong they are about everything and give them their new opinions. Only then will I feel 'Tini has been fully replaced.

The 8 bowls that had PAC 12 teams this year and last saw a -6,354 drop from last years.

I only see 7 bowls as P12 repeats totaling around 5k more fans than last year. Dallas, Armed Forces, and NM Bowl being the 3 non-contracted bowls that did not have a P12 rep last season.
