"But each situation is unique and has to be treated that way."The Mountaineers served beer for the first time at their seven home games in 2011. Along with the decision came a very specific set of rulesSales would be suspended early in the third quarter. Fans no longer would be able to leave the stadium once they entered. The university found that many people who left the facility would drink while they were away.

The beer sales at West Virginia had an interesting result. Incidents related to alcohol consumption decreased 25 to 35 percent, Luck said. The tighter controlled environment, beefed-up security and a new exit policy made for a healthier atmosphere.And the athletic department netted about $750,000 from its cut of sales and additional beer sponsorships.​

Don't like the proposed no leaving stadium thing... But daaaamn, Mr. Luck is smart. (He is the father of a soon to be stinking rich Stanford QB). ​
 
they should start by serving beer that doesn't taste like it used to be beer before some drank it and pissed it back into the bottle.

When I was a student and they were selling beer, I think it was 3.2 and I think they had the same stuff that they have in the bowling alley - bud, bud-lite, and buff gold. But that was a hell of a lot better than nothing.
 
They could bring back beer, and lose all the stupid rules if they wanted to, with a little software writing.

Liquor stores are already able to scan ID's. If they are worried about people getting **** faced at a game, but a limit on the swipes in the computer.
1) prevents fakes (at least not great fakes)
2) limits beer to fans to 2 or 3 or whatever. So if students share with their underaged friends like they are prone to do, no one is going to die of alcohol poisoning or w/e they are afraid of
3) cutting off beer sales midway through the 3rd qtr would allow most people to be completely sober by the time they leave after only having 2 or 3 beers.

geez just sell the beer for $8 a pint, most people aren't going to buy more than a few at that price.

And I understand that, however if someone at the game goes up and has a beer during the 1st quarter. The game gets out of hand for the home team and people start heading out to beat the crowds around the middle of the 3rd. Everybody that purchased a beer through the course of the game cannot leave. Thats just as restrictive in my mind as limiting beer to 2 or 3 over the course of the game.

It's okay. The problem with the rules now is that it encourages you to drink WAAAAY too much before the game so your buzz will last (or worse, drink so much before the game that you think it's a good idea to leave at halftime and try to drink a similar amount in less time). No one can afford to get drunk off stadium beer. FACT. We'll still need copious amounts of sackygate-provided beverages. FACT. Now, we'll just be able to get a good buzz on at the tailgate and use the 3 beers at the stadium to ride the wave until the end.

Not sure if what you're saying makes sense. Are you saying that if you have beer they won't let you leave at all? As I understand it, they just will no longer let people leave and reenter the stadium like they do now. If you leave, whether you had any beer or not, you aren't coming back in.

If we want beer sales back, and we do, it is this valuable little nugget that needs to be repeated over and over again until everyone actually gets it. Anytime someone tries to oppose the return of beer sales - don't talk about revenue, don't talk about how nice it would be for you, don't talk about the two class system (club/suites vs everyone else), don't talk about treating people like adults. Repeat this little bit over and over until they get it.

Because then, they won't be "selling out," they will be "doing the right thing for the safety of our students and fans" - it just so happens that they will also be able to rake in a little bit more cash, and make a large number of people's game day experience that much more pleasant. But really, the real reason, is to "provide a safer environment" for everyone...
 
The arguments for bringing beer sales back to both the Keg and Folsom are numerous. The arguments against have all been discredited. Yet the CU admin refuses to acknowledge that they made a collossal mistake in discontinuing beer sales in the first place and instead continues to stamp it's feet and insist they did the right thing.

Where? Last time I mentioned beer sales to bohn in an email (as a way to get people in the stadium earlier), he told me "good idea"

People have been screaming for years to bring beer back, but it never happens.

He could not do it when we were in the Big 12. Alcoholic beverages were banned from Big 12 events except in specially designated areas of stadiums (i.e., rich folk seats). Some members of that conference were even pushing to ban that.

Now that we're in the progressive Pac-12 instead of the puritanical, Landover Baptist attitudes in the Big 12, I think we'll see beer again soon. Knowing CU, they'll want to see the data from how it goes over at the first movers before following suit, but it's going to happen.

This falls into the "politically correct" category. This is one of those decisions that once you make it, there is no going back. There is too much publicity about undergrads draining bottles of whiskey and dying. So the sentiment to stay dry is greater than the sentiment to sell beer. But, let's face it, one can get s*@t-faced before the game, easily smuggle a flask into the game, and easily assuage any compelling need to ease life's considerable problems with demon rum. At least, that's what I do.
 
This has to happen...storming the field after a big win over Oregon State will be a lot more fun drunk.
 
What a great opportunity to enjoy our local brews, as well as showcase them to our visiting fans.

As we all seem to understand, the sort of person that buys a stadium beer at $8 a pop is seldom, if ever involved in an alcohol related incident.

It's the pre-game/halftime bingers and those that sneak ziplock bags of 151 in various orafices that tend to create the incidents.

Let's permit adults to be adults and give them the credit that CU fans are capable of taking care of themselves. And students? Well God bless them, they're our students. If I see a couple of them passed out in puddles of their own urine, I'll likely just feel nostalgic.

So I'm saying, not only should be bring beer back to Folsom, but that it doesn't have to be 3.2. We can actually bring in some solid Avery IPA and give our fans the respect and trust that they deserve.
