Buffs' Sports Performance, the Precursor and Model

massive tool
Here's a link to a roundtable discussion among Stanford's sports performance staff, which Dave Forman was a part of and which experience Forman used to successfully implement his own program at San Jose St. and now with the Buffs

The discussion is about 45 mins. long, but its a fascinating look into what made the Stanford FB team's S&C such a success and well worth the time.

After listening to this, I'm even more pleased with the choice of HCMM and his bringing Forman along with him! It should really set CU apart, both on the field and in recruiting.

You watched it? You must have one o' them magical GoogelEyes! Can I borrow it? Pleeeeeze?

So there you are, one of the first people to get their hands on the Google Glass. You’re tooling around like Geordi LaForge, taking photos or seeing maps or whatever, and your friend is all, “Hey, cool! Can I borrow those?” Stop right there, says Google. The first users of these specs are strictly forbidden from selling, loaning or otherwise letting anyone else touch them.

interesting

Worth your bosses time to watch this for sure.

Did you take your boss's time for this? It was fairly interesting, although a lot was aimed at rehabbing injured players.

The intriguing part was the use of a physical therapist as part of the S&C team, beginning when freshmen arrive on campus.

In most instances a freshman player, after having all his measurements taken (strength, flexibilty, body fat %, etc. to establish a baseline for that player), first works with the physical therapist to correct all manner of problems created by the earlier S&C conditioning the player had or problems caused by improper rehab of prior injuries. A very unique approach, to set up a kid from the beginning with the right way of doing things for his body, in order to more successfully compete on the field. Once the problems are corrected, the player begins work with the S&C coachs, to build a new body ( hence the MM staff's claim that an incoming frosh will completely change his body in 18 mos).

The Buffs' DL is already learning about the change in approach, losing weight which is useless fat, to be replaced hopefully, by muscle weight. Will be interesting to also see how this approach works with Dillon's re-built shoulder over the summer.

It has sure worked for Stanford, looks like it worked for SJS and looking forward to it working for the Buffs.
