Buffscoop just tweeted this with no other context
"You think this is a case of Cain talking with his family and realizing they can't pay for school and now he is reluctantly playing again?"
Why make that accusation? If he knows something and wants to call him out, then do it. Otherwise, it's irresponsible. Andrew, for better or worse, is running a media outlet now that they have CU press credentials. He needs to act like it.
so is he back on the team or what? I don't get it.
He's probably just realizing that he passed up the chance to play pac 12 ball on the west coast and is like what am i thinking? With the tutoring and study hall hours the athletes are required to have, it takes a real piece of work to fall behind academically.
Did you know any scholarship athletes? Do you realize how much time they have to devote to practice and team activities? I'm not saying that it's easy to fall behind academically, but it doesn't take "a real piece of work"...especially considering that some of these guys (maybe not Cain, but more on the football team) come from poor high schools and are honestly trying to have fun in college - just like every other kid.
I'll always remember one study session I had and my friend on the football team stopped by. He looked out of it as we worked through homework problems, and he eventually just said that he couldn't focus. He was too worked up about the impending Oklahoma game and it was his duty to cover their AA tight end that week. He pulled out his playbook, which was very thick. I felt bad for him...granted we are engineers, so this is an extreme case of academic requirements. Still, many athletes are in exact same position. It's more difficult to be a college athlete at a major program than many people realize...NOT saying it's impossible or we should coddle kids that slip into bad standing, but don't think it's a cakewalk.
Cain decided not to play because of a medical risk. He recently got medical clearance. The academic thing was a cover story.
Really? I worked 2-3 jobs at a time, graduated with honors and still partied my way through CU. Trust me, I would have much rather been a student-athlete than working my way through school. I'd welcome Cain back, but I have little sympathy for the plight of the student athlete.
weird. why? what's the motive here...? just curious.
Personal privacy. I wouldn't want my medical history made public.
If he has medical clearance and the academic thing was a cover story, then AZ is especially out of line.
Guys, I wanted to clear up that tweet from the @Buffscoop account. AZ and I were texting about the situation and for some reason, he accidentally typed it into his twitter (through text message, if some of you get texted twitter alerts whatever you type back is sent as a tweet) instead of sending it to my personal phone. That message was not meant to be public and it was taken down.
Now, I want to apologize for the tweet on his behalf and let you all know that whatever negative insinuations that could be taken from that tweet were not intended. We want to apologize to all those who read that and any offense it caused. We are striving to be as reliable and accountable as any other CU recruiting site, and deeply regret the mistake that was made regarding that tweet.
24 hours late. No surprise traditional media.http://www.dailycamera.com/cu-college-sports/ci_19257732?source=rss
AND the traditional media confirms.
Give me a break! My daughter worked two jobs, played club soccer (which is pretty intense, not intramurals), and did her share of having fun and pulled a 3.4. My youngest has worked 2 jobs at 32 hours a week, does Big Brothers, is working in a "soup kitchen" next week and has a 3.0 with a double major. Athletes have it easy. My oldest had a class with a star player. He slept through class while a lady (tutor) took notes.Did you know any scholarship athletes?
