CBS4 - Hagan & Flanagan relive the pitch

Saw it live last night. Couple of my favorite all time Buffs and it is fun to remember these moments I got to see live.

What's this hadn't beaten them in over 20 years nonsense? The Buffs beat nebraska in 86.

I wasn't referring to Hagan's remark--for him, I'd assume it had been 22 years during recruitment. The article states that it had been over 20 years.

It had been 22 years since they'd won in Lincoln. So when the Buffs won on the road the next year, it was 23 years. They got that part right in the story, but confused it with the overall time since the last win. It had only been 4 years since the last home win over the Nubs.

That wasn't even the best pitch from Hagan to JJ. There was one the week prior in Norman that put that one to shame. Problem is, I think OU was on probation or something because I can't find any youtube footage from that game. I was there, though. Hagan looks like he's going to get tackled about 2 yards short of the end zone and he pitches a rainbow. It looked like that thing was never going to land. But when it did, it landed in JJ's hands and he walked into the end zone.

They had the Oklahoma one in that video on the newscast. Flannigan says he thought the OU one was better as they show it.

That video also shows another way-down-the-field pitch (not 40 yards downfield, but definitely in the secondary) by Hagan to Flanagan for a TD against Kansas. Same sideline, too.

The first season my Dad bought us season tickets was '89. First game that season was against Texas. The 2nd play from scrimmage Hagan ran 78 yards to the 2 yard line. While I definitely remember the fusker game from that year more, for me that run against Texas is still as memorable as the pitch.

That moon pitch against OU is my favorite play. I was there and when he pitched the ball it looked like a total desperate mistake play until JJ seemed to come out of nowhere and catch it for an easy stroll into the endzone. Poetry in motion.

My other favorite memorable moment from that '89 season was how loud the crowd was against Illinois..."George is a pu$$y..." Illinois was supposed pick us apart with their pro style offense and we beat the snot out of George and his "prolific arm". Bienemy on one play did a halfback pass that went for a TD and gave him half of the passing yards that George had for the whole game.

I know. The CU section was on the other side of the stadium. We all saw Hagan take the ball and move to his left. Then the ball just went flying way up in the air. I swear I thought it was a fumble at first - like he got hit and it just popped out like that. Nobody is watching JJ until the ball drops into his hands. It was pure sweetness.
