Chants of "Airball", "Score-board" & "Fun-da-men-tals" are unsportsmanlike

After reading about the uproar the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association created recently by reminding schools of the chants it deems derogatory toward opponents -- including “air ball!” “score-board!” and “fun-da-men-tals!” -- the Green Bay Packers quarterback confessed Wednesday that he’d have been in trouble had such rules been enforced back in Chico, California, at Pleasant Valley High School basketball games.

Aaron Rodgers: “Think about the fans at other stadiums we play at or at Lambeau Field. I don’t think that [high school competition] warrants censorship. What are we telling our kids, that freedom of speech doesn’t exist? And any type of negative comment, you’re going to get somebody in trouble for? I just don’t agree with that.

“I don’t agree with any type of racist or homophobic language, any of that type of stuff from the crowd to the people on the field. But ‘scoreboard’ and ‘air ball’ and ‘fundamentals,’ which is a great chant?”

And he kept going and going. :ROFLMAO:

I never thought I would say these words, but THIS is the pussification of America.

Gotta keep "the advertisers" happy. Cialis media buyers don't like to hear college kids chanting "bull ****" at the refs after a bad call.

Dude played for Duke, and nobody will accuse their fans of being classy.
I will. I attended probably 1/2 dozen games at Cameron and at Wallace-Wade, wearing visiting team gear and rooting against Duke probably half of those occasions. I stood basline with the crazies wearing orange and maroon and participated loudly in "Let's Go Hokies" chants during Duke free throws.

I found their hoops fans live up to the reputation, cheer good plays for the other team and treat visiting fans respectfully (like the sacrificial virgin). I never found any of the chants they through out at the visiting team to be over the line (side note: Duke has a student group that researches the opposing team, writes a summary of "knowledge points" about them (along with suggested chants targeting that team), prints and distributes the flyer across the student section. Their football fans, at least three years ago, knew their place. They're used to seeing their team destroyed, used to seeing other schools take over their stadium. Duke football fans won't say **** to visiting fans.
