Charlie Weis new OC at Florida

From the same article:

"In his first year on the job, Muschamp has been focused on hiring an NFL offensive coordinator to install a pro-style offense and to assist with attracting pro-style quarterbacks and receivers to the Gators program, sources said."

Great minds think alike? Go Embo!

Edit: Half time ND/Miami, they discussed the interest, but no offer accepted yet.

isn't the HC in KC an offensive guy? maybe he doesn't have as much impact on that side of the ball as he would in Florida?

And maybe no NFL next year means this is a good move for him.

Yes, all of Haley's gigs have been as WR coach or as an OC-type position.

if it's me, excepting the possibility of an NFL "work stoppage"....the job security in the "league" is pretty hard to beat. you can get fired 2-3 times in the NFL and still find another job. But, i think it's an interesting move for Muschamp....inexperienced HC and a bigtime ego like Weis.

Definitely an interesting move. Regarding Weis, I wonder if he's looking to spend less time at the office? Because in every other way this job is a downgrade from the nfl. I think it also speaks to Muschamp's confidence. I think Muschamp will recruit the hell out of Weiss' rep as an oc.

Great move by Florida - you can do that when you have money to burn. It will be interesting to see what his salary will be. Less demanding job with close to the same pay?

i am wondering what they are going to pay him. it has to be big. head-scratcher to me. he's not, imho, more likely to land a hc job from uf than as the oc of the chiefs, but maybe he doesn't care. i find this to be odd.

He doesn't care what he gets paid. I seem to remember he had something like a $15MM payout from ND. He probably wants to go someplace warm.
