Chidobe Awuzie

The crazy part to me is how the defense functioned without him doing everything like last years CSU game. They let him be him and that's why I think he was even more special than he has been the last three years.

That's exactly what they should do imho.

He's right there with Jourdan Lewis and Desmond King.

I think he's a much better version of Jabrill Peppers as a hybrid DB, Peppers just has a very big following and obviously has the special teams and offensive output. But Peppers can't lock down guys like Chido can.

We have one of the best players in the country on our team.

I think he is quite a bit better than jimmy smith. Smith was a good player but he was drafted that high because of his size. Chido will be drafted solely on his football ability since he isn't the biggest guy.
 
Kiszla had a lot of nice things to say about CA including that if it was allowed, he would get lots of playing time next Sunday in an NFL game. Of course our buddy Kiz couldn't resist giving Mac an "F" for game management for leaving Sefo in, haha. I guess the first quarter/half didn't count toward "game management."

Kiz said going into the year, NFL.com had him ranked 19th best DB then said "there won't be five cornerback prospects better than Awuzie for the 2017 NFL draft."

He's been my fave Buff for 2+ years now. It happened during a Spring Game...his team lost and unlike the other players who just walked off the field, he was visibly pissed at losing. My fave from then on. The best competitors in the world have one thing in common IMO...they hate losing much, much more than they enjoy winning.

Honestly, that's the model we are starting to see mega value in the NFL. Even just one lockdown corner + an elite edge rusher is basically what every top defense has, of course with solid players throughout elsewhere.

I have high hopes for Gilbert and Falo to be solid edge rushers. If nothing else, I think scheme wise we can apply solid pressure and our entire secondary looks like they can play at pac12 level. HCMM, Clark, and Tumpkin blessing us with DBs.
 
I tried doing a similar cut up of Awuzie against CSU like I did Sefo but he was at CB a lot and every time he did that, CSU just wouldn't even bother to look at his side of the field so it basically amounts to 3 minutes of video with 2 minutes of him destroying them and another minute of him running off screen on his man while Stevens airs it to nowhere over Ahkello locking down his man.

Seemed like they tried to challenge Chido early and then figured out that there was no future in trying to throw the ball to the guy he's covering.
