The Knicks have announced the signing of free agent forward Chris Copeland, who has played the last five seasons in Belgium, Germany and Spain as well a brief stint in the NBA D-League. Copeland is the second American acquisition who had been playing in Europe, following James White who was signed last week.A native of Orange, NJ, the 28-year-old dreadlocked Copeland has been playing on the Knicks Summer League team and registered 17 points and two blocks in a loss to the Suns on Sunday.Copeland can also play both forward positions, although he is a bit undersized at the four (he's just 6-8).A former Colorado Buffalo, Copeland averaged 21.8 ppg in the Belgian League last year, with a 44.7-percent mark from 3-point range. He also made just under 80 percent of his free throws while adding 5.5 rpg.Terms of the deal were not released, but it is assumed that the contract is a one-year, minimum deal.

Meanwhile, Harrison has an outside shot to latch on with the Mavericks. If he signs, that would mean we'd have Billups, Burks, Copeland, and Harrison in the league. That has to be the most ever at a time, right? (I assume Higgins's brief run is over).

Silas played a few games in the NBA last year and has a chance of making it again, if you count him. Copeland has been playing great lately. Hate that it goes to the team I enjoy rooting against the most. Pulling for Harrison, but he's still struggling with foul issues.

Why would you assume Higgins run is over? I wouldn't make that assumption.

I mean, I don't want to discredit one of our own, but he fell into a perfect situation considering the state of that team and who their President was. But when you get cut from the worst NBA team of all time, when your DAD is the President? Not looking good.

He'll probably play Europe ball.

For the record, I'd love to be proven wrong.

Figured Cope was a better fit with the Bullets. Congrats to him!

I knew there was a joke there but had to go to Wikipedia to get the history straight. Surprised the name change was so recent.

in the League.

that's great. a friend of my dad's led the British Open for a round (thursday)....no matter what else they say....they can't take it away.

Chance for us to have one hell of an impressive base of NBA players in coming years, Wow. Hopefully Higgins and some of the older guys hang in there. + A new generation with 'Dre (and hopefully more hotshots coming through the pipeline soon). We might build ourselves a nice core that is far more impressive than many more traditional basketball powers. Just fantastic to see CU basketball taking off like this.

Wow, congrats to Cope. One of my favorite players from that era. Loved his play so much, I plunked down for his game-worn jersey from '06.

Congrats Cope. He was a cool kid in college. Looks like he grew some 'locks since then.

I realize that I've not paid a lot of attention to CU basketball for a few years, but why do I have absolutely no recollection of this guy ever playing at CU? The name doesn't even sound familiar to me.

2002-06. Double digit scorer his junior & senior years. Solid rebounder, solid player overall. Didn't grab a lot of headlines, but I always enjoyed watching him. Rumblin' can give you the whole scouting report here.

he was a great player in Ricardo's offense (if you can call it that). The guy was a more athletic Dufault. He has some great post moves but could also step outside and hit the three which made him really hard to defend. I guess he is like a skinnier Al Harrington who shoots at a higher percentage.

Yeah, big-body type with a decent outside shot. Could do a lot of things on the court, and I'll best remember him for the 22/11 he dropped on KU in '05. Also known for getting shot at an off-campus party his freshman year

Last time we beat KU in '03 he hit a CLUTCH 3 with a couple minutes left. Believe he was a true freshman then.

And if I remember right, at least when he left here, the bullet was stilll in his shoulder wasn't it?
