Coaches Poll Out Today

Ohio State 2nd is a projection of where they'll be with their schedule, not the 2nd team in the nation.

Home against Wisconsin, and at NW are fairly tough games. Other than that, that schedule is dog****. Though #3 Oregon doesn't have any room to complain.

I just saw something on twitter the other day that Northwestern and Louisville are the only 2 teams to win a BCS or NYD bowl game last year and not lose any players to the NFL draft.

Louisville dominated a very good Florida team in the bowl. I am very impressed with what Charlie Strong has built there.

I don't know what Louisville has coming back, but they weren't great last year. That Florida game was an aberration.
-5 point win over NC
-7 point win over FIU (coach got fired)
-4 point win over Southern Miss (coach got fired, winless)
-2 point win over South Florida (coach got fired)
-3 point win over Cincinnating (quality win)
-19 point loss to Syracuse
-3 point loss to Connecticut
-3 point win over Rutgers

Yet this board in general was slobbering over the possibility of getting Charlie Strong last year, and he turned down the Tennessee job to stay at Louisville. His defenses are tenacious. He is building something pretty solid in Louisville.

Yep. Louisville going highly undefeated is quite unlikely, IMO. 10-2 is the best bet.

I would've loved to have gotten him, but more for the big name. He would've done wonders for our recruiting, and he's a pretty good coach. However, his teams have not been elite. His defenses are above average, nothing special. There are no high powered offenses in the Big East, so nobody really tests them. The Big East was subpar last year, and Louisville didn't exactly dominate that conference. They're sort of like WVU a few years ago.

Strong will probably put up another good season this year, maybe even go undefeated, but how impressive is that? The AAC is weaker than the MWC this year. Put them in the SEC, Pac-12, Big-12, or Big Ten, and they're just another middle of the pack team.

I have a hard time finding 2 losses on that schedule.

Probably wouldn't have picked them to lose to 'cuse or UConn last year either...

Also not sure what "highly undefeated" means either...

I don't either. I was on a call for work. Let me restate

Louisville losing a game or two is far more likely than going undefeated. They will stumble, whether it be Rutgers, USF, UConn, Cincinnati. A loss or two will likely happen. Saw them a couple times last year against UNC and Cuse in addition to the bowl, just not buying undefeated.

A little surprised to see such little love for the MWC. Fresno and SJSU both unranked (SJSU not even close).

Hmm. It's almost like people think great coaching makes a difference and SJSU might have had some coaching change in the offseason. :p

I chose to root for the 120th team in the nation, because for me it was a good fit. The number one team wanted me to root for them, but I said "no".
