4.1 seconds left with a three point lead and A&M in a 1-1 situation. Why not foul??

Last possession of the second half with your two best shooters on the bench. Another let down to end the half.

I didn't like the last shot of the game since it is harder for Levi to create a good 3 point shot with someone in his face.

That was painful to watch at the end. It made my Bottom 10 frustrating games.

On the radio on the way home Coach Boyle took responsibility for the loss and I would have to agree with him tonight.

That was a stand up move by Boyle.

But we lost this game because we got out-toughed.

 :stupid: . So many plays involved our guys going up soft, settling for fade aways, or just getting out muscled. Whatever rebound magic Boyle cast on these guys in the beginning of the conference sched has worn out. Or this team has worn out. These guys really don't have much left in the tank, especially late. There are exceptions, but the team is acting sore and beat up.

Lack of depth is hurting the team...have to beat K-State

yup. We have no PG on the offensive end. Relphorde has deteriorated into a nonentity. We have no offensive threat from at least 2, and usually 3, guys on the floor. Atm wasn't even guarding guys off the roll. They would just double team whichever of cory or burks had the ball, and if levi was on the floor, they would guard him on the 3. Otherwise, it was the double the ball and laugh D. So awful.

We started off with probably the 3 most similar teams to us in the Big 12 (outside of Iowa State). Missouri is a guard oriented team who plays awful perimeter defense and struggles to win on the road because they are slap happy and send teams to the FT line. KSU just recently started getting their post game fed but when we played them, they shot a lot of long jump shots and helped give us a chance by not abusing us inside. OK St is just not a very good team, not that we are, but we were able to burn them off through dribble penetration all game long. They started taking over the post late and almost stole a late win.

I think they do look tired but I also think they've just been playing more physical defenses. They clearly get frustrated when they don't get bump/touch fouls and it throws off their game. It's too bad they're not in the Pac 10 this year because they would more than likely only finish behind Washington er and Arizona, can't believe I forgot them lol.

I completely agree. Everyone around me in the student section assumed we would foul. Id like to think that Tad knows more about basketball then a bunch of intoxicated kids. The worst part is that the same exact thing happened in the CSU game. We don’t foul and end up giving up a game tying three pointer at the buzzer. I guess Tad doesn’t learn from his mistakes. Regardless, when you know they have to take a three, how does a guy get that wide opened? And it was not just the end of the half that Tad took our best players out. At about the 10 min mark Tad puts Relphorde, Higgins, and Burks on the bench at the same time. Big supprise, we dont end up scoring once in the next 5 min. Watching Javon Coney and Shanon Sharpe pass the ball around and refuse to take open shots was painful.

I was screaming to foul, but I guess Boyle decided not to as they could possibly tip it in given that we don't know how to box out. Looks like a good idea right about now.

One of the most disappointing losses I can remember. We'll see how mentally tough this team is against KSU - whether they're tough enough to put this one behind them and focus 100% on beating KSU. Hopefully we can win a few down the stretch and have a nice NIT run - I wouldn't mind a rematch with aTm in KC, Turgeon pissed me off tonight. Can't believe we've lost 6/7...

"Coaching" is the thread name, and coaching is what cost us this game, both in terms of preparation and strategy.

Most of the first half and nearly the whole second, ATM cut down on the PG play up front with two guys limiting the lateral movement. That left three guys to cut off our passing and driving lanes, and they did that. And we could not adjust to that. It's how we've done well on offense for the first 15 games or so, now teams are figuring that out, and we have nothing as a counter-move. Instead we desperately look for somebody magically open, even tho nobody is moving. Whatever offense Boyle is running is not working.

Further, guys are simply not working for a shot on the offensive end. The effort was not there tonight at all. Can that be anything other than coaching?

Further, a bunch of Sophs and Freshmen on ATM knew exactly what our secret weapon was - rebounding, mostly courtesy of Burks and Roberson. Guess what - they were not let anywhere near the rim, and we were out rebounded.

And then there's all the strategic blunders mentioned above. Sickening.

Their Gayhawk outsmarted our Gayhawk. Thanks a lot, Gayhawk Bohn. Blow this mess up.

Disappointing that Boyle couldn't have learned from the CSU game, but I guess he's firm in that philosophy. I think it's time for some boxing out and loose ball drills in practice tomorrow. Hurts that we got out-toughed at the end. Our offense gets so stagnant at times that it is unreal. I know we don't have a veteran point guard, but can we just do some basic movement and passing? The standing around, coupled with these cycles of one-on-one dribbling is painful to watch. Time to get back to some basics. This KSU team has much more of a post presence than the one we beat on the road last month, but it should be a more up-tempo game in the high 70s or 80s. Hopefully the crowd is much better than tonight's...don't even want to think about losing KSU...this could get really messy with a loss.

At least we had a home-crowd to see the product that the coach wants to present to us. I know he's going to be a favorite among the Pac-12 coaches next year.

My apologies to Tad Boyle. As tonight demonstrated purposely fouling can backfire on you (we got lucky). I don’t think either option is necessarily better then the other, you just have to choose with your gut.

The funny thing is Pullen had that 3 when they called timeout, you could see it in his eyes, he was going to dribble down ant take it, even if he was 8 feet behond the 3pt line
