College football in Colorado (no CU home weeks)

The MWC and RMAC schedules are out. I was looking at what non-CU games might be worth considering the road trip.

I still haven't been to a game at CSU, or any of the DII schools (believe that Mines has a new stadium this year).

Here's the local CFB games that occur when CU is not scheduled to play in-state:

CSU has Savannah State (and it's Ag Day!!!http://agday.agsci.colostate.edu/)
AFA has Morgan State
Mines hosts SD Mines
CSU-P hosts Central Washington

... month of CU home games!, but if the RMS moves to Friday, Mines and CSU-P both have homes games that Saturday

10/10
CSU has Boise State
AFA has Wyoming
CSU-P has Fort Lewis

10/24
AFA has Fresno
CSU-P hosts Mines

10/31
CSU has San Diego State

11/14
CSU has UNLV (note Buffs play on Friday)

after that, no college football in the state of Colorado until 2016
 
I would go to the Air Force games vs. Fresno or Wyo. Those games are always a blast.
 
SD St going to be pretty good this year. D.J. Pumphrey running rough shod over the rammies might be fun to watch.
 
Go to an AFA game. One of the best kept secrets in College Football. Games at the academy are fantastic.
 
Yep, Air Force games are the only other ones truly worth the price of admission. Mines games are fun but it's small time, and CSU games are complete ****. Never been to a CSU Pueblo game.
 
Lambs have beer, the town is fun and no fans = zero traffic.

AFA games are a whole different experience. If you can somehow get there when they are playing Army or Navy it goes to another level but no matter who they are playing it is worth the price of admission just to witness it.

Get to your seat early. You want to see the cadet wing march in, the fly-overs, and the rest of the pageantry. It is also fun to see them run the triple option. They are usually playing with at least a few guy who are small enough that they would not be considered at other D1 schools but when they are hitting on all cylinders the precision and intelligence they show is amazing.

Also worth it if you can to catch a game in Pueblo. Wristen is building a dynasty down there and a town that has very little else to get excited about has gone full in for that program. Small college football at it's finest (and with last years NC they can say that without argument.)
 
If either Savannah State or Morgan State brings their bands, it is well-worth the price of admission. HBCU bands do it like nobody else and SSU is one of the better smaller ones.

and I'm sure that's what I'll end up doing -- the "Colorado outdoor lifestyle bug" bit me hard last year. first year since high school that I didn't want football start because I was enjoying the Colorado outdoors so much.

looking at local games is a habit I got into living in Raleigh, with 3 ACC stadiums within an hour drive of my house (plus Wake and ECU less than two hours) -- one of the very few things I liked better about Raleigh vs Colorado.
