Great article. As much as I have disdain for E$ecPN's slant favoring certain programs and conferences (*cough* $EC *cough*) ... they do have some pretty good writers, and Maisel is definitely one of them.

"I play special teams," Fisher said. "Coach always talks about starring in your role. Tonight, my team needed me to step up. I tried to do that for them. I love my teammates. I want to win. I'm playing for 9-2. I'm playing for Sefo, this guy right here. There's just so much love in that locker room. You don't want to let anyone down."

It's also completely clear from the post game interview that Lindsey would kill or die for this team and especially his leader Sefo.

What a bunch of guy, what a team.

I'm making good progress in getting a handful of friends and family in Wisconsin and Virginia following the Buffs. got at least 5 in those two states now watching the CU football games and another dozen that at least check the score and would tell you their favorite Pac team is CU.

I just can't stop reading all these stories. This season is a frigging dream

Feel like we got cheated by not being a bowl team last year. Perhaps the team expected to compete like this, but just about nobody else did, including our most optimistic readers here. If we had played decent last year and gone 6-6 and to a bowl game, this story would feel different. The press would have latched on to us sooner. We would have started out as ranked. Hell, I think we might not lose at Michigan. I don't think all of our team had fully bought in at that point that we have a great team, not a good team. We have a REALLY good, if not great team.

I feel like they gave us some Sparkling wine and we made Mimosa's (with Orange Juice) and then later someone said "that's Taittinger Comte de Champagne Rose 1976 that you just drank in that Mimosa". Furk. I don't want the season to end. WIN OUT!

"No story without conflict." I think that is how MacIntyre put it.

It will be interesting to see how this applies to next year. I expect us to be a preseason top 20 team since we lose Sefo, but everyone now knows Montez is waiting in the wings (and none of the talking heads pay any attention to defensive depth). We should win the first 3 easily without leaving Colorado, comfortably putting us in the top 15. I want to see how the Pac 12 conference sets up.

Not to mention a top 20 (or better) recruiting class. I think USC is going to be tough, by I honestly believe we might be looking at a strong run by the Buffs for the foreseeable future.

We aren't on SC's level yet - not sure anyone else in the Pac is. We have them at home, but it's going to be tough sledding. It would be cool if it was a night game in November.

I guess we now know where your handle comes from. :)

I generally would not post anything related to Jizla, but after reading his column this am, let's just say he's jumped on the bandwagon with both feet.

We are living through the "good old days." This is it. Right now. These are the good old days. To me, this is just as good as the national championship year--that was gradual process of winning, winning more, and finally making it. This is "boom, you have a winning team" like a bolt of lightening. THE GOOD OLD DAYS!

I thought a bowl game was certainly within reach, maybe even 7 or 8 wins if we pulled an upset or 2 and things went right in a few close games. But this? One home win from playing for a spot in the Rose Bowl and possibly a shot at the college football playoff? I still can't believe it.

These are the salad days, boys.

In all seriousness, the team should have won 6 or 7 games last year (13 game schedule). It had the talent to do so. But there's a silver lining to the way the team underperformed: new strength coach, removal of ST Coordinator, OL coach moving to TE coach, RB coach moving to OL coach, and a new RB coach. Some of those moves might have happened anyway, but maybe not. And then we got lucky when we lost a really good WR coach to UCF to become their OC since it allowed us to bring in an equivalent position coach who was a much better recruiting coordinator and a personality that better balanced what we had at OC.
