Colorado Post-game/Offseason thread

In a sense, the team as a whole deserved the bad draw and outcome if they were going to play dangerously like this all season, despite their great successes. What really ****ing hurts is knowing I'll never see Josh Scott play a non-exhibition game in a Colorado jersey ever again.

For everyone hating on Tad. .622 wining percentage and 4 NCAA invites. Let's root for the return of Tom Apke or Tom Miller. Those teams were allsome!

I love the fact that no one can criticize his holy TADNESS. EVER.

We've got to NEVER CHANGE ANYTHING cause he's been better than the most recent coaches.

I don't remember seeing a single post saying fire him. Just wanting change. You know, maybe stop these god awful loses with double digit 2nd half leads.

Why is it so hard to accept that he isn't perfect, and that if maybe you (or he) would accept that he has flaws, we could get assistants that can help?

Maybe a recruiter would be nice, too.

You guys need to give some credit to uconn. Their defense dictated how we played offense. They decided that they were going to guard the 3 point line, and have us beat them by driving to the hoop or shooting from the inside. they would funnel guys inside right to Brimah. We took about half the amount of 3 point shots we normally do, and never got into any rhythm. I'm sure a uconn fan can probably speak a little better to this, but I would guess that this was an average offensive game for them, they shot about average from 3 and were able to drive and score points when needed, which means our defense (from our guards/wings) was nearly as effective as their guards play. Our frontcourt absolutely destroyed their frontcourt, but our guard play was just so bad, it wasn't enough to win the game.

Overall it was a good season for us, but our weakness was obvious and uconn was the right team to be able to exploit that, no matter how good Josh and Wes played.

and for the guys calling for Tad's head, please find a different team to cheer for. The guy is a great coach and an even better person. Some other coaches would have pulled scholarships for bad senior (hs) seasons or ran guys off the team, but he sticks with the guys and they play hard for him. I hate to break it to you, but we are not in the top half in terms of talent in the PAC:12, but we manage to finish in the top half of the conference every year and make the dance way more often then not. If anything Tad coaches above his talent level and one day we will win those close recruiting battles (Wallace, Heild) and make some serious noise in the dance. Until then, just be happy that the Colorado Buffaloes made the dance again, even if it was a first round exit.

I am almost ashamed to say this, but I was talking about the Buffs to a co-worker and I was telling him how awesome it would be if we played the Anderson style of 40 minutes of hell. I told him that we would be virtually unbeatable at home. Do you know how stupid that argument sounds when we lost 1 home game this year and our home winning record is probably better than 90%. This is what we are trying to do calling for a new head coach. The guy made the dance 4 of the last 5 years. I have sat in the keg with less than 1000 fans a little over a decade ago and would have killed for the exact success we are bitching about right now at that point. So if this is Tad's ceiling, then I am okay with it because it sure beats the hell out of the floor.

I posted this in the locked thread but I have a list for @ZandiBuff and @DenverBuff77

Do you guys know what this list of NCAA basketball teams is:
Cincinati
Duke
Gonzaga
Iowa st
Kansas
Michigan state
UNC
VCU
Wishita state
Wisconsin

I'm guessing whatever this list is that it's gonna be an interesting answer.

The only schools twho have been to more tournaments than CU in the last 5 years?

This is only Tad's ceiling with this staff of assistants.

He needs a Jim Leavitt or Daren Chiv, a guy who can recruit and coach the offense.

I don't know how good Billups was, but I'm not worried about a change. Tad needs some more help on offense.

If this is our ceiling, enjoy it! Rejoice in the fact that we are as good as we will ever be.

What would be the reaction in 1994 had somebody told us we were at our ceiling under McCartney? Who cares! Basketball is relevant in Boulder for the first time since... Ever. We are at the top, awesome!!!

Sure, I'll play. Teams that won 25 tournament games. in 2015. ALONE.

You've sold me we should totally make a change worked for UCLA right, they are much better off - who could be our Alford? 10 teams have made more tourneys than us over the past 5 years, a further 18 more have made as many (4) as us, they are here:

Arizona
Baylor
Harvard
Colorado
indiana
kentuky
lousiville
michigan
new mexico st
Notre dame
ohio state
oklahoma
oregon
SDSU
Syracuse
Texas
Vilanova
UVA
Xavier

Most of those schools have won more than the 1 game we have over that time, but that also means that roughly 320 other division 1 teams have been to the tournament less than us, among that list of fewer tourney appearances than us over the last 5 years are some of the most storied programs in the NCAA.

And to me, this criticism of Tad is completely fair; I don't remember where you fall on the Tad spectrum, but when certain posters fervently criticize Tad, it's rather annoying. To us couch coaches, yes, he could use some help on O, he can do some better game management, I for one would like better rotations/lineups in games...but **** it. Tad's earned our respect. Some posters (and I admit, I don't remember everyone's names so it may just be a few, and not you) need to stop acting like Kentucky fans with Tubby Smith. Especially considering our coach is still evolving - no he is not as good as Bennett or Shaka...but he's still solid.

As for this off-season - I hope Dom regains some confidence on the drive, Fletch gets some confidence on offense, and Fortune to learn...I mean I like the guy, but man...just stop doing whatever it is that turns it over so much (honestly can't put a single finger on his mental mistakes...). I expect Miller to progress as normal, and hope Yaz just works on shooting. Dom also really could add a floater his game...so bad. GK - defense.

This is what I am saying. I don't want tad fired. I want something to change. Better recruiting, better game day coaching.

The tournament is a whole new ballgame. Every team is good. Every team is talented. Every team is well coached. There are no easy outs in the NCAA Tournament.
going apoplectic over a tournament loss is pretty absurd for a program that is still learning how to win.

I'd take his recruiting over tad's.

Who won the game between us, btw?
When you take the respective prestige levels of the programs into account, Tad's recruiting >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Alfords. Next thing you want to be wrong about?

Congrats on a solid season to Tad and the boys.
Seems like we either have a tough front court or a solid back court. One day we will have both at the same time and maybe we can make a deep tourney run then.
Go Buff Basketball!

I think Tad has done a good job with what we had to work with. Even with poor PG play throughout the year, CU still manages to wind up 5th in the Pac-12.

Most everyone including myself was hoping for some Magical run to finally advance to the Sweet 16. Bottom line is we played like the 5th best team in the Pac-12 that we are, and that's not good enough to make noise in the NCAA Tourney.

There are some things that Tad can do differently, call timeouts, draw up more X's and O's, what have you. But Tad has to step up the recruiting for us to start being considered Sweet 16 worthy. I'm hoping Peters and Brown are the answer in the backcourt next year, but we need a blue chipper or two.

I'm very optimistic about next year with Peters, King, Fletcher, Gordon, Miller, XJ, and White. It's going to look like a totally different team with Josh Scott, but I think we have the chance to be very good if Peters keeps improving and provide that calming presence for us.

Who danced?
Yeah, I'd sure hate to have the #4 class, 2 5*s and a 4* in this current class. Sure is some subpar, non-prestige level recruiting going on there.

#24 in 2015, #8 in 2014. Complete crap recruiting.
Who was wrong?

Good Luck Josh! The true heart of a Buffalo! I thought that all the bigs played well today. It is hard to believe that Tad decided to give more minutes to Fortune over Fletcher the last 6 games or so. I thought Fletcher really came on the last part of the season. I would love to know his reasoning behind that move. The free throw percentage really was the story. I thought that the Buffs could have been up by at least 15 at the half with better free throw shooting. The four straight misses from the line early in the second sealed their fate.
I remember Tad saying two years ago that the Buffs shouldn't be satisfied with just making the tournament. He said the same thing this year. I hope he holds himself to his own words and would love the fan base to do the same.

Who was wrong?

Who, despite all that talent sat at home this morning?

Darth was stating that, given the prestige of the program, UCLA should be recruiting at that level. Given the prestige of our program, Tad is recruiting above our level. You missed the point. As usual.
