Mark Peterson,
I'm writing to you regarding the open call for a beat writer covering all Big 12 Basketball teams. As I'm sure you're aware, there are numerous college sports message boards on the internet, and I have been a regular poster/reader of one for the University of Colorado. The website is allbuffs.com, and the vast majority of posters there are well-informed fans of the Buffaloes.
We were made aware of your need for writers, and there is a group of us avid CU Basketball fans that would like to collectively cover the program for you. Unfortunately, CU does not get too much national coverage, so most of the media attention the program gets is on the regional level. I will proudly and confidently state that the information I have received from fellow posters on allbuffs.com is just as, if not moreso, insightful, well-written, witty, and intriguing than the vast majority of articles I have read on the Denver Post, Daily Camera (Boulder's local newspaper), CU's Scout.com site, and others. This isn't meant as an arrogant slant against those entities, as they all have talented writers that often provide much valuable information. However, when I want to get an interesting commentary on the basketball program, or read about the latest recruiting news, the posters at allbuffs.com consistently provide.it.
The interested group is tentatively about three-five people. Last year, I think at least one allbuffs.com poster attended every regular season game. I apologize for not having a firm number or everyone's contact information at this time, but I assure you that we would represent CU Basketball well.
Thank you for your time, and any more additional information you could provide us would be much appreciated (i.e. word counts requirements, weekly deadline times during October, topic requirements, etc).
That's the email I sent Mark Peterson. Nice find Mick. I just read this thread again, and realized that I was the only one to explicitly say I was down to help.
- hopefully some of you guys meant to state that you too wanted to help.
