need to get back in the win column tonight

8-3 lead at 5 minutes in. Much better defense so far. Nate got the start over Dwight.

Kinda lonely in here, eh?

I haven't been watching enough of the game to comment intelligently (I'm sure some in here will say "that's never stopped you before!" :smile2:) ... but I have been tuning into the game enough to keep track of the score. It's a romp ... and Tomlinson was hitting threes in the first half over the Northridge zone. If he gets his act together, that will help this team tremedously. I have no idea how good or bad Cal-Northridge is supposed to be however.

But still good to see the boys rebound :smile2: from the disaster at Fort Fun.

CS-N was in the tourney last year, but they lost 5 of their top 6 guys to graduation. Brought in some decent JUCOs and should be in the mix to win their conference this year. Expect them to finish with a winning record and for this to end up being a decent RPI win. Obviously, they're not great, but they are a pretty good small conference team.

Thanks for the info.

Did Bzzz go with the bigger line up tonight? Does Harris-Tunks show some potential if he can bulk up? Watched the UT-Mich. St. game. We're gonna have to shoot lights out and run like crazy to have even an outside shot to keep it close. That Damion James and Dexter Pittman are scary good. :scared2:

Shane & Austin were on the court together some. And Shane did get more minutes. But the big change is Nate starting and Dwight as the 6th man. Seemed to work. They both had their best games of the season (or close to it).

Anyone else get the impression that Bzz is a really, really good coach?? Seems like a 180 from the Patton days to me. Obviously, we're not great yet, but, really seem to be building in the right direction.

Bzzz appears to be a great coach. We just need to have a good year or two so he can recruit. Once that happens, look out.

Very good win. This team needed that to build some confidence. Burks is going to be a stud sooner rather than later.

Also, tonight shows how well this team can play when the 3-point shooting is on.

Nice win & blowout.

This will help them pick up confidence, and should go a long way in regards to the players listening evermore to what Bz is teaching. Because if you do, you play well and have a chance to beat anybody.

Good crowd tonight as well

Should beat Yale ... and then it's on to Tulsa, a game that the Buffs ultimately need more than any other right now. It's a road game against a good/tough opponent, and a chance to get ONE back from that CSU debacle.

Tulsa will be the toughest road game of the season thus far. A win there would make up for the Oregon State and CSU losses IMO.

The fuskers beat Tulsa by 4 tonight. Not sure if that game was in Stinkoln or Tulsa, though...

It was a road game for Tulsa. Big difference. Their home court is a madhouse. Very tough place to play.

Nice way to bounce back from the crap-fest in Fort Collins. Now go out and pick up a road win for Pete's sake!

Unlike the coach of another sport at CU who I won't name, Buzz is a very good coach in all aspects of the game.

He is recruiting against a history of mediocricy and appathy in a state that lacks any numbers of quality prospects. He is doing this against one of the most talented BB conferences in the country.

What strikes me about Buzz is that he knows exactly what he is doing in every game situation and his players know it. So far it has not translated into a lot of wins because the players are not yet physically or mentally able to do what he wants them to do in all situations. I see however a lot of players who have a lot of room to develop and just as importantly I see a lot of development happening from game to game.

Fortunately for us Buzz likes Colorado and I think is truly enjoying what he is doing. This is a good thing for us because with his deep history in the NBA and his contacts I think he could have a better job (i.e. more money, prestige) anytime he wants to ask. You have to think he could make a lot more money as a lead assistant in the NBA than the gets in Boulder.

Not previously mentioned, we had a good crowd last night. Official total was a little over 5,800. Considering that students weren't around and a blizzard was rolling in, I thought that was a nice turnout. Bohn must have had some type of promotion going, because a ton of parents were there with little kids in tow. I'm sure the 5:30 start time helped with the kids. (Also, there was carryover to the women's game. Had to be over 2,000 for that game, too.)

I was walking around the concourse between the games and saw that there was a sign for "Gold Crown use sections 15 & 16" or some such and there were tables piled high with empty pizza boxes. Definitely some kind of promotion. Also noticed that the guys were seated at tables and there were a whole bunch of kids lined up holding team picturees that they were getting autographed.

It was great to have a win but before I say this team is well coached I would like to see them win the rebounding battle. They were out rebounded once again. Also 20 turnovers is way too many.

CU should pretty much romp over Yale, but Tulsa on the road will be a challenge but a good measure for conference play. Miami of Ohio should be a win but will not be as easy as some games. They have played some tough teams so they won't be intimidated.

yeah Miami of Ohio looked like a gimmie earlier in the season, but they are a tough team.
