CSU Practices vs. CU's "Picnics"

Paul Richardson can practice however he wants if he goes for 200+ and 2 TDs every week.

Instead of stopping a drill to correct an error, that player is pulled aside by an assistant and replaced with another player who knows what to do without skipping a beat. The primary teaching is done in meeting rooms, from video clips, to avoid wasting any of the practice time.

that was what i saw us doing last year at practice, worked real well..

McElwain will do a good job, but he needs players, specifically on offense. He took that loss very hard, it seemed. He must have really thought they were going to win again.

I think so.

When PRich found himself wide open, it wasn't entirely blown coverage. It was a matter of two safeties looking for run support. I believe that the Rams thought this game would be a cakewalk, and it would start in the trenches. I think those safeties were so confident that a collapsed pocket could only mean a sack, they disregarded the receiver.

That confidence started somewhere, and I think it started with the head coach.

Luckily those picnic practices only allowed the team to run 82 plays. That number is equal to Oregon's pace last year, they averaged 83 a game.

I'd also point out that we steamrolled them in the 4th quarter, indicating that the conditioning value of Sparkles' practices may be overstated.

82 plays? Really?

That's a lot. Although comparing it to Oregon isn't really appropriate, IMO. Oregon typically only takes 4-5 plays to score.

Would love to see the guys really dig at that writer/rams with this this season. "Really enjoyed our picnic today. Coach even let us eat dessert"

The Coloradoan is such a wildly homer paper, it is amusing. Matt Stephens (I think is the name) is one of the beat writers, and the dude hangs out on RN all day.

They had a chat at noon today (I read a little of it cause I like watching those goats burn), but this guy was still convinced that the Rams get more done at practice. It was brought up to him a couple of times, and he kept going back to the well on it.

I'm waiting for more sheep logic - They lost because they were to tired from practicing harder.

Here you go:

First of all, CU has a good QB. We can rant all we want, but there
was plenty of pressure to force him into some dumb mistakes, and he
stepped up. CU is a much improved team. Not good enough to beat us
without our help,
but very improved and they will not finish in the
basement of the PAC this year. They definitely stole a hell of a
coach, he's already made a huge difference.

510 to 295 yards. They're lucky they didn't lose by 20+. I guess if you tell yourself you're a better team all summer, it's hard to accept it when you realize you're not.

You can't blame them for taking it hard. It is the only game they care about winning all year, and the only game they care to show up for. Win or lose, every year after the CU game, CSU's season is over.
