CU MBB Predictions for P12

What place in the P12 do the Buffs men's team finish?

Went with 4th. I think this is the year the Buffs finally get that bye in the Pac-12 tourney.

3rd. Ucla is too disjointed--glut of talented guards who don't play D & no gritty bigs to fill Tony Parker's spot. Cal has a weak supporting cast & will be far too reliant on Rabb & Bird. Bird has never been consistent.

It should be considered a disappointment if we don't finish in the top 4.

I think that the Buffs senior leadership and depth results in conference wins this year and they finish in the top 4. It won't be easy though, never is. PAC-12 is so talented at the top and even the bottom teams can steal games from anyone in the conference. I think the top 4 could be comprised of any of the teams I have listed in the top 7 below.

1) Oregon (Return almost everyone from a very good team last year)
2) Arizona (Lucky they don't have to play in Boulder this year plus Miller recruits)
3) UCLA (Moving Alford off-"Ball" will enhance chemistry issues and allow talent to succeed)
4) Colorado (Too much experienced talent and Derrick White is mysterious x-factor)
5) USC (This program is gaining confidence)
6) Cal (Will be inconsistent without Brown and Wallace but have talent to beat anyone)
7) Washington (Markelle Fultz could be number one pick in NBA draft but no bigs)
8) Utah (Rebuilding year for the Utes but Krystkowiak won't let them slide into the PAC-12 cellar)
9) Oregon State (Last year was the peak for beaver basketball)
10) Stanford (Lukewarm program that can recruit but fans and alumni don't really support)
11) Washington State (The Hawk in his senior season, WSU will never leave the shadow of UW or Gonzaga)
12) Arizona State (I expect Hurley to have several Youtube worthy moments as the dumpster fire burns)

To once again demonstrate my basketball knowledge prowess: I lived in LA (Hermosa Beach) for 6 years, and I genuinely believed Gonzaga was somewhere north of LA off the 101. Good lord - I know nothing about basketball, apparently.

Best thing about how the schedule sets up is that we only play UCLA & USC in Boulder. Sweep that weekend and the Buffs have some nice tiebreakers. Of course it works the other way with the only game against UA being on the road. Anyway, this year more than any we've had, it looks like if the Buffs can take care of home court in conference play that it might very well carry the team to where we want to be in the standings.

I said 3rd. I believe Derrick White is the truth. Also think Wes steps up to another level and has a monster DPOY in the Pac type of year. I also predict that AllBuffs will overreact to the "DOOOOOOM" of a potential midseason swoon. Looking at that first 5 games of the PAC schedule.
