LOS ANGELES — The Colorado athletic department submitted an appeal to the NCAA recently asking that offensive tackle Shane Callahan be allowed to play this season without having to sit out the mandated year following his transfer from Auburn, a source told the Daily Camera....

Callahan chose to transfer closer to home because of the health issues of a family member and CU asked the NCAA in its appeal not to punish Callahan for the decision by forcing him to sit out this season.

I've given this a lot of introspective thought, and I believe the only rational opinion for a CU fan to have is full-on mob mentality.

So...

LET CALLAHAN PLAY!
LET CALLAHAN PLAY!
LET CALLAHAN PLAY!
LET CALLAHAN PLAY!
LET CALLAHAN PLAY!

Don't worry - I'm sure the NCAA will support CU's case in this very straightforward situation involving a student who needed to change schools for serious personal issues. The NCAA is very lenient to CU in these situations, as well as student athletes.

I just called Kansas Community College to ensure they know my stance on this issue. I encourage you all to do the same.

I'm wondering if the Pac 12 swings a big enough dick to get this done. I know for sure we don't. The NCAA is completely random when it comes to this kind of thing. I'm certainly hoping he plays, but I wouldn't put money on it.

We need Matt and Trey in on this...

NCAA has been about 50/50 with the waiver for family health reasons in recent years.

But in the current climate of the NCAA not wanting to appear to be unfair to student athletes, I think that chances are better than they normally would be.

And I've got them on speed dial.
ahh, no wonder they were confused. I must have pressed 2 instead of 1 on the speed dial. silly me. called again, now they both know what they need to do.

The narrative that the ncaa is against CU is real old

Sonny boy, lemme tell you a little story about a guy named Jeremy Bloom...

Once I finish that, I'll tell you a story about how CU got put on probation for an infraction that was identical to something that happened at Ohio State, who got no penalty whatsoever.

I have no doubt that if he was transferring from CU to Auburn or any other SEC school the waiver would have been granted before the ink was dry on his transfer request.

NCAA is too chicken ****z to do anything to actually piss off SEC.

NCAA loves to arbitrarily enforce the rules against schools like CU. Sure we are PAC12, but been down for a long time. We are the perfect school for NCAA to hammer for any infraction in the name of protecting the purity of the student athlete.

NCAA can suck a big bag of richards.

Is that accurate? I thought OSU got a similar/same penalty but they forgot to inform OSU until the statute of limitations passed by like a day.

Oopsie

A bit of both. Ohio State delayed on reporting and by the time the NCAA was ready to rule the NCAA decided this was a stupid rule, changed it, and said the statute of limitations had run out.

The CU penalty was CU's own fault for basically doing the equivalent of running into the police station and filling out a written statement that they had jay walked 5 times while both understanding and accepting the penalties for jay walking.

Let's not play the victim card on this one. It was CU's own bungling administration and failure to recognize how the game is played (and failure to protect its football program) that resulted in the penalty.

meanwhile, OU feels very confident that Dorial Green-Beckham is going to be eligible to play immediately, after he was kicked off the team at Mizzou.

I should point out that the very same people who constituted the "Bungling administration" are still in their respective positions at CU.

For some reason I think they're much more committed to success in football now than they were then

i.e. CU is Bad News Brian when it comes to cheating

My theory is that the NCAA likes to pick on what they perceive are the small fish in order to give an appearance of caring while the big fish swim where they like. Small fish don't put up much of a fight.
