“We started going to football games when we first moved to Boulder, basketball too,” Peggy said.

“1940,” Betty clarified.

Since then, Betty and Peggy have become an iconic and beloved part of University of Colorado athletics. In that time, they have attended nearly every football game and both men’s and women’s basketball games. They are CU’s biggest super fans.

A few weeks ago, on Nov. 19, the twins turned 90 years old, hitting a milestone very few people reach in their lifetimes.

“Every birthday’s exciting, but this one was special,” Betty said. “It’s pretty good, but I don’t feel like 90 years old.”

Peggy added, “I don’t have a secret [to making it to 90]. It’s God and our parents, attitude and we’ve had some maintenance along the way.”

I had the opportunity to meet Betty and Peggy years ago when they were only in their 70s. They are incredible fans. As much as they loved CU, they wanted to tell people who had been strangers just minutes before all about their children and grandchildren who had CU connections too. Boulder may have changed quite a bit over the decades, but there are still good people around with a great love for family and the community.

These two are remarkable.

At the Auburn game cheering after 1am? Just incredible.

Thanks for your support Betty and Peggy!

'They'd love to go to more games, but can't because they don't drive at night'

Isn't there some campus group (a sorority, Golden Buffs, etc) that could set up a transport system for these ladies?

Or maybe fans could contribute and have a 'taxi fund', for rides to and from the games

run this headline in the personals:

Want to spend the evening with a pair of twins who love sports?

Not only great Buff fans, but great people. Betty and Peggy are two of the kindest, most generous and caring people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.

They really need some sort of banner/poster/recognition spot inside of the CEC. The really are legends in the Buff community. Come on Rick, you can make that happen with one e-mail I'm guessing.

They attend many graduation ceremonies for the athletes they have watched. They do care about each and every one of them. I met them around 20 years ago also--at summer commencement ceremony for my favorite CU athlete. They sat with the parents of the athlete at the invitation of the parents.

sitting through a commencement that isn't your own, a close family member, or best friend.

Wow.

That is a HNL of serious fandom. I challenge anyone to top that.

They feel like the athletes are family. Not a bad thing.

This! They deserve to have the recognition. Create a large mural or scroll similar to what's been done for the athletes.
