Greg from Hillsboro, Ore., writes: Wazzu. 2011 in the Pac-12. No one is paying any attention. I think they will surprise people this next season. I think they will win at least 5 games, maybe as many as 7. Wins: Idaho State, UNLV, @SDSU, @Colorado (they are terrible too), Oregon State. Losses:

I cannot wait for the season to start and to kick some of these pompous pac 10 teams in the dick.

Also when he says "they are terrible too" does he mean in addition to wazzu?

Miller seems to have some idea though
from his response

"and I'm getting a feeling many of you old school Pac-10 fans are underestimating Colorado. "

Sorry to rant that one just got me fired up

Ted Miller know's what's up. Most Pac 10 fans only know CU for the Cal game last season, which sucks because that was the story of that douche bag of a coaches regime.

Something to prove. Nothing wrong coming in as the underdogs and pulling in upset after upset.

Something about the air/water in Washington make her residents delusional? First it's the Washington fans bs about how much better they are than Colorado (coming from a team that went winless few years ago. Now WSU fans thinking we are a pushover, at home nonetheless. WSU? They're still worse than Baylor in their worst Big 12 years.

Well, all we have to do is kick their ass. Until then, they can talk all they want.

Talk is just that, talk. I am looking forward to this upcoming football season more than any in recent memory. Not because I think we will win every game, but because I think we will see a team that competes and fights in every game. We will come up and kick someone in the ass who is not expecting it this year.

Lose to Wazzou at home? Seriously?

Wazzou and CSU are the cupcakes on the Buff's 2011 schedule. Well, cupcake is a stretch. They are more like bran muffins. CSU is, after all, an instate rivalry on a nuetral field and Wazzou is a conference rival. Eventhough both are bottom feeders in their respective conferences last season, so were the Buffs. The Rams and Cougars are upgraded to nutty, fiber filled bran muffins. Warm and moist bran muffans, with bananas, zucchini and raisons. Served with a cold glass of hormone-free milk fresh from a local free range dairy.

If CU were to blow either the CSU or Wazzu games, then the blush would come off the Embree rose pretty quickly. Losing those games ends the honeymoon with Embree and set the Buffs on an other no-bowl 3 wins or worse season.

I think we have the opportunity to surprise next year (.500+), IF we get solid QB play. I think the defense will be good enough and will keep improving. The offense has some playmakers on it and most of the OL returning. I think Stewart is going to once again be in the top 10 nationally in rushing ydg, and P-Rich and Clemons are going to be one of the best WR duos in the Pac 12, if not the nation.

It comes down to who's delivering the ball. We really need the QB's to play well this year.

We will beat Wazzu, they are beyond terrible. We are a bowl team 3 out of the last 5 years if we have coaches with at least half a brain.

I don't know where you have been the last 5 years but we are terrible. Don't make me post Toledo pics.

Well, there is terrible, and there is horrific. WSU qualifies for the latter. Their returning head coach is 3-22, but 2 of those wins did come last year...

i pretty much agree with this premise. with anything resembling actual d-1 coaching, the Buffs, i honestly believe, would have been a bowl team at least a couple times in the juicebox "error".

the problem is the schedule next year is the toughest we will have played in years and it isn't like the Buffs have played a lot of cupcake schedules.

we will get tested early and often.

hawaii is a lot tougher at home than on the road. a lot. that will be a very good test of the staff because it is very typical for teams to get over there and start treating the trip like a tropical vacation and then they get muscled off the field in the game.

cal kicked the **** out of us last year. they have some bodies, as you saw. i believe the team will play much better and be much more physical than juicebox could do and it is at home, but it is hardly a cupcake game.

csu is almost always a pain in the ass, but with 2 games under the belt, i would think this is the only "easy" game in the ooc slate.

at ohio state is a really, really tough ask for a team with a new staff and some gaps in athleticism. i know everyone is fired up because of all their troubles, but they will give CU everything it can handle and more. it is a very tough place to win.

and all that is before we even get into the conference. @stanford. @uw. usc at home. @asu. @utah. among other games.

if we win enough to make it to a bowl, i will be thrilled. absolutely thrilled.

I think the current players are getting way too much of a pass from fans. The coaching was terrible for the better part of five years, but that does not absolve the players of their role in this mess.

I am cautiously optimistic, but we have some major holes right now that might get exposed sooner rather than later when the season starts.

Not to burst everyone's bubble.....but the guy isn't saying anything that isn't true...we have been "TERRIBLE" the past few years

Yes, we all know where a majority of that blame and the reasoning behind that has come from (or at least we want to believe so)....but this team has to PROVE that was the case under Embree

We really haven't done anything over the past 6 years that makes any team in the Pac-10 tremble with fear over our Buffs....hopefully that changes from Day 1 in Hawaii!

we have a tough schedule but i'm not of the opinion that @ASU, @UW, or @UU are unwinnable games...just because they are in the new holy Pac and we mindlessly blowjob the awesome Pac these days.

Well if Colorado is terrible, then Wazzu is Turrible.

Lots of games that could go either way next season. An experienced team (though not a history of winning) playing under a first-time HC and OC. Crunch-time situations are gonna be interesting.

cupboard is hardly bare, this offensive line could actually be scary good with some resemblance of coaching showing them the way, stewart could lead the conference in rushing

And our WR tandem of Richardson and Clemons could not only be one of the best in the Pac-12, but one of the best tandems in the country! We also should have an experienced QB (hansen) already named going into summer which would be the first in years and huge!

Secondary is the big ?

Oh don't get me wrong, I pretty much agree with you about the schedule, although I don't think it's that much harder than what we are accustumed to. Cal is kinda like us, good at home, ****** on the road. I am calling wins over Cal and Wazzu right now, I will be shocked if we lose those two games. Hawaii is a big question, we never do well in first games under a new coach and our recent road woes who knows. It would really suck to lose to Hawaii, but it is a strong possibility. CSU is god aweful, it will be like last year or worse for them, especially after we have played a couple games.

The games that are for sure losses are Ohio state, Stanford, Oregon. All the other conference games are winnable, but tough. USC is boarderline. They could come into Boulder and lay an egg like they have many times over the last few years, but if they come to play, watch out, another CU loss to that talent.

I think 5-6 wins is a realistic possibility

Crunch time games typically come down to special teams play. We need to improve a lot on special teams or we're going to be right back in the same boat we've been in the last five years. Hawkins ignored special teams and that's a big reason why he's unemployed right now.

spot on

One more thing. I am not arguing that CU has been bad, I am saying that it's funny when he is saying a game in Boulder is a win for Wazzu.

Wazzu the last 3 years=5-32, CU the last 3 years=13-22

I think Wazzu is a step down from us. We've almost doubled their wins.

Math isn't your strong point, is it Leash? :smile2:

Do some buff fans have to scour the Internet boards looking for posts from WSU fans to fire themselves up? The guy is a fan of his team - does he sound much different than CU fans in years gone past? Ripping on Baylor - they beat us last year on our home field. This team has to start getting it done on the field...to date smack talk on the Internet does not garner much respect. Unfortunately a lot of opposing fans look at the schedule count the CU game as one they should win. That will only change when CU returns to its role as a powerhouse and a game date that no one wants on their schedule. As fans we need to set the bar higher than worrying about the opinion of Wazzou fans.
