CU WBB clinch 4 seed in PAC 12 tourney

It wasn't the prettiest of wins, in fact it was pretty ugly at times, but the WBB Buffs beat the Ducks in Oregon last night to clinch fourth place and the first round bye in the tournament.

:woot:

They better be ready for Oregon State. Beavs are playing well right now. Seeding for the Dance is on the line.

I'd prefer a 6 for the dance. A 6 seed would pit us against a 2 seed in the Sweet Sixteen. We're currently projected as a 5 seed and that seed will meet a 1 seed in Sweet Sixteen. We might have a chance against a 2.

No, it wasn't the prettiest, but I did get to watch. It buffered once, so I closed my browser and reopened. Got to watch the rest of the game.

Ky Weston was the little engine that could. She came off the bench and really sparked the team.

Chucky had her 30th double double.

Oregon had nothing to lose by beating CU. They are in last place. Unfortunately, much of the game we played down to their level.

BTW, what are we thinking for the Dance? #4? #5?
Right now ESPN WBB Bracketologist Charlie Creme has CU projected as a 5 seed. I think we could see a 4 seed depending on PAC-12 tournament results but I doubt we could move up to a 3, even making the finals of the tourney.

I like the 5 seed from the perspective that it gives us the best shot at making the Sweet 16 .... we should win the first round and then we'd have to beat a 4 seed with us playing at home at the Keg. Getting a 4 seed would have the same scenario. Unfortunately then we'd face a 1 seed in the sweet 16. Baylor, UConn, ND are still just that much better than the rest of the field.

If I am really optimistic and looking for the team to have its best shot at advancing BEYOND the Sweet 16, then I would prefer we get a 6 seed. Again, we should win the first round. We should have a decent shot at beating a 3 seed to advance to the Sweet 16 especially if we get a good home crowd behind the team. Then we would face a 2 seed on a neutral court. Our chances there are way better than they would be against a 1 seed.

This is why I prefer a 6 seed. However, I don't want it to come at the expense of a loss Sunday or early in the Pac 12 Tourney.

I really doubt we can beat a 1 seed on a neutral court, but it's possible to beat a 2 seed on a neutral court, IMO.

As long as we don't draw Baylor for Rd2, I'm cool with it. We'll have a shot and a win would give us a great path to a Final Four. Baylor's the only team that I don't think we can defend and have a reasonable chance against.

Baylor will be a 1 seed. Waco is a host site, so won't be coming to Boulder. I don't think we can beat UConn, Notre Dame, Baylor or Stanford, which are the projected 1 seeds. We might have a chance against the projected 2 seeds of Penn State, Tennessee, Cal (iffy) or Duke with an injured point guard. Tennessee has been beaten by the likes of Missouri. We have to play the Sweet Sixteen at a neutral to have a chance at winning and getting to the Elite 8.

Duke looked pretty good against UNC tonight. Of course, this is a serious rivalry game, but the dookies seemed to answer everything the tar heels threw at 'em. Not sure I'd want the lady Buffs to be seeded in their region for a sweet 16 game.

What the general concensus regarding the Buffs seeding for the dance?

Probably a 5 (per the most recent bracketology). Strong conference tournament could mean a 4. Although I wouldn't be surprised to see the Committee not be particularly familiar with us and put as a 6 seed (which I'd be perfectly fine with, 6 is a wonderful seed as you avoid the 1 for the longest)

What Cville said from me also. Pac 12 gets little respect and with our first game being played at 11:30 PM Eastern, the AP voters, etc. will not be watching the game. Even I don't like the time of the game.
