Just spoke with JR who gave me this information about the first three games of the season, minus game times, but those will be published well ahead of time:
Nov 11 at Northern Colorado
Nov 13 home vs Air Force
Nov 19 home vs Kentucky
Since then, I've emailed with Buffgal, who along with Estelle & I, will be attending games 1 & 2. We'd love to meet as many as would like to get together at the games prior to returning to Lima on the 14th and JR will look forward to that also! Happy July 4, everyone. Go Buffs Women's Basketball!!!

I'll be there for AF. Too bad you're missing Kentucky, that'll be a real test!

Wish I could stay long enough for Kentucky myself. They have had a mass exodus of players. Kept the head coach and associate head coach and hired the former Arizona coach Niya Butts and got Lin Dunn to come out of retirement to be an assistant coach. That will be a battle.

Hey, that's great! JR just met Buffgal via email, but she is looking forward to meeting you all i person. I'm disappointed to miss the UK game, for sure.

IMHO, and my opinion ONLY, Lin Dunn was probably a good get. Nuff said.

Lin Dunn was a great get for Kentucky. She is up there with the great all time women's basketball coaches.

Nice to hear from JR. Please assure her I look forward to meeting her in person and won't be bugging her via email.

Had a fun Facetime with JR & her three chilluns last evening after returning from a great week long holiday in Quito. Then we got down to the important stuff: recruiting!

She says she is very pleased with how "in on the very good ones out there" she & her staff are, not knowing the reception they would get after the 'slide' of Buffs women's basketball the past years. So she and her staff are pleased. Said Kennedy Leonard has been doing great at the World U-20 tournament. "She is really, really good, Dad, and only going to get better!" JR & Kennedy have become quite close. Kennedy suffered a concussion in her last game & was taken off the floor on a stretcher, but feeling fine now.

That's what I know. JR & staff feeling good about future Buffs b-ball :)

While there are many great contributors to these boards, you sir, JackVcr, are quickly rising up amongst my favorite posters. Thanks for the information.

You're very kind. Thank you. Just enjoying sharing good news :)

I had to make a quick edit to my post, dyemeduke, per instructions from J. Not supposed to say anything till the NLI is signed in Nov. Having said that, it is public info on the internet that anyone can find :) :) I suppose one could just Google 6'3" lefty 2017 women's basketball player from Minnesota verbal commit to Colorado. Haha.

Recruiting, recruiting.....My morning note from JR this morn:

On my way to the airport with Jax now (Jax is her 8 mos old 30# highest percentile in height son. Take a note, Tad. haha) ...we are going to DC for three days and then Augusta for two, Atlanta for one! Then home and hopefully moving into the new house!!
Hope you all have a great day and weekend! Love you both! Xo

J's husband, Toriano, and the other two staff members are also on the road. They're gettin' after it. Go Lady Buffs Basketball!!

If you click on the picture you'll see JR's recruiting helper. Now what 6'5 girl could say no to that?! :)

Told Coach on Twitter what a cutie Jax is. I couldn't say no to that and I'm more of grandma's age. :D

Let's get some Buffs and then get moved in to the house so they can truly call Boulder home.

JR & staff are back in Boulder. She says they saw some very good talent & lots are newly interested in Colorado. Now they start the process of phoning the girls they liked and see what their interest level is in coming to the Buffs and collecting verbal commits from them. Dozens of calls will be made beginning immediately. Like business it is follow up, follow up, follow up. I've heard her on the phone & she's good, real good with players AND their parents. Note on Eleanor Jones: she has a banged up elbow which is in the 'slowly but surely getting better' mode.
We are going to lots of fiestas this weekend celebrating Peruvian Independence Day. Enjoy the weekend, everyone.

Great start to the schedule. Hope to see the three other regional D1 teams as well - DU, CSU & Wyo.

In the future I hope that JR will get some of the former Big 8 rivals on the schedule, such as ISU, KSU, Nebraska, etc.

Other teams in the area that make sense to schedule? BYU would be a good one to start with.

Re: "CU WBB - The other Rise."
Without a doubt CU can have one of the top programs in the country, not just the region or Pac 12. It's just a matter of having the coaching staff that believes this and and can get it done recruiting wise as well as teaching and game day coaching.

Near the end of Ceal's tenure I stated to my wife there is nothing schools like Tennessee, UConn, Baylor have over CU. Are they better academically? Are Knoxville, Storrs, and Waco more pleasant than Boulder? How about the climate in those places?

The Coors Events Center is on campus, has no bad seats for spectators and is being upgraded. Additionally CU has the practice facilities attached to the Events Center that is only about three years old and houses the offices for basketball and volleyball as well as a weight room for the court sports.

The Denver Metro area has a strong economy so if a CU graduate wants to stay in the area job prospects are pretty good.

Getting to Denver? DIA has the third largest domestic network of flights in the US. The only states there aren't direct flight to and from are Mississippi, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. So players and their families have easy access to CU.

Step one, get the recruits on campus. There are a lot of misconceptions out there about Colorado. "It's in the middle of nowhere." "The winters are horrible." Etc.

So far it seems the coaches have gotten a lot of buy-in from prospects, especially given the relatively late start on the class of '17.

As somebody who came to CU to the Midwest, I can attest that the winters in Boulder are quite mild compared to winters here. The lack of humidity is another big difference, not to mention the scenery. I remember looking at the Flatirons every morning from my bedroom while at CU and while living in Boulder.

Many CU players and students end up staying in Colorado. I stayed over 35 years after I was out of school. :D

I would especially like to see Iowa State on the schedule every year or at least often.

Before the Big 8, when CU was in the Intermountain Conference, BYU was in the conference. They seems to put a good team on the court every year.

That's a good call, Mark. She does not shy away from playing the good ones. At Santa Clara she scheduled Stanford, Texas Tech and LSU & beat 'em all. Seems she can get her players up for the big ones. I suspect you'll see them play BYU. She is friends with the BYU coach.

Well I guess I knew this Iowa State comment was coming :) A bit of a commute from your house to Boulder, eh?

As a Vanderbilt guy, and because I have an abiding interest in academics, I assure you that CU has a better academic standing and more diverse programs then the three schools you mention. I have been to Storrs, Knoxville & Waco and the answer to your rhetorical question is no, no and no. JR uses all these great points you made to her advantage, I assure you. She is very good. You'll see vastly improved effort this year with a more polished Kennedy, lots better defense, more steals and if they don't rebound they will become spectators. In year two you'll really begin to see it roll.

About 15 seasons ago I got into an only debate with an ISU fan about the weather/climate in Boulder v Ames. He just couldn't believe that the winters were warmer and sunnier in Boulder . . . until he looked up the data. This is a common misconception by people in who haven't spent time here and I suppose it is in part due to the state's reputation for skiing. As for the lack of humidity, I am very grateful. I was raised here and when I travel to somewhere with real humidity I am reminded of how inhospitable it seems.

I suspect you'll see them play BYU.
I hope so, it's a natural rivalry. Men's basketball hosted BYU last season and will travel to Provo this season.

I would especially like to see Iowa State on the schedule every year or at least often.
I suppose this is so CU will be playing regularly in Ames :). I too would like to see ISU every once in a while, but KSU, Nebraska, OU, Mizzou, etc., would be fine with me as well.

Rebounding hasn't been an issue in recent seasons. Turnovers and defense have been.

Since Kennedy verbally committed to CU I have felt she would develop into one of the best point guards in CU history. She is a tremendous passer and if her teammates are hitting their shots she could routinely get 8-10 assists.

I would actually prefer Iowa. Iowa City is about 90 minutes from me and Iowa State is 3 hours. I would probably go to Lincoln or Mizzou. I did go to Illinois and University of Missouri-Kansas City since I've lived here. I'm willing to travel to see my Buffs.

In the Iowa game in Iowa City, the team played absolutely horrible. Too many fouls, way too many fouls. That has been such an issue the past few years. A team like Iowa can't be sent to the free throw line as many times as we sent them there. Not to mention our FG % stunk that day also
