Women's golf has added two new members to their team during the fall signing period, Claudia Davis of Greenwood Village, Colorado, and Natalie Vivaldi of Oceanside, California.

| BOULDER—University of Colorado women’s golf coach Anne Kelly has announced the signing of two student-athletes who will continue their education and play golf for the University of Colorado. Claudia Davis, of Greenwood Village, Colo., and Natalie Vivaldi, of Oceanside, Calif., both signed National Letters of Intent during the fall signing period, which lasts from November 14-21, 2012. “Both Brent and I are very pleased with this recruiting class and the potential of Claudia and Natalie,” Kelly said. “They are competitive young women and I feel they will get better every year during their careers as Buffs. They are both dedicated to the game, work hard and are excited about attending CU and our program – just the type of players I love to have on this team.” Unlike last season, when the Buffs lost six players from its roster, CU will lose just one senior, Devin Dougherty, next season, so Davis, Vivaldi and one walk-on will join current juniors Jenny and Kristin Coleman and freshman Megan Haase, Alexis Keating, Jamie Oleksiew and Allie Zech. Kelly went to familiar ground for this latest crop of Buffaloes, as Davis is the 28th player from the state of Colorado and Vivaldi the 11th from California in program history, by far the two most states that make up the Buffs all-time roster. High School—A three-year letterwinner to date in golf at Arapahoe High School under coach Pat Wilson, she owns the Arapahoe High School record for lowest round in a tournament with a 69. With her senior season still to go, she helped Arapahoe to a Colorado State Championship as a freshman in 2010 and is the captain of the squad this upcoming season. She was named first-team All-Centennial League as a sophomore in 2011. She lists the biggest moments of her career winning the state championship and being named a captain. Other—She is ranked No. 246 on the Junior Golf Scoreboard (as of Nov. 14, 2012) and had two notable wins, first at the Colorado Junior Golf Association at Highland Meadows in Windsor and at then the CJGA Tournament of Champions at Cherry Hills Country Club. She also placed fifth at American Junior Golf Association Aspen 2012. On November 18, she finished second in a Rocky Mountain Junior tour event in Tempe, Ariz., at the ASU Karsten Golf Course. Best Career Round In Competition—68; Colorado Women’s Golf Association Stroke Play Championships, Commerce City, Colo. Academics—She is undecided on a major at Colorado. She is a honors student at Arapahoe High School. Personal—Claudia Madison Davis was born Feb. 26, 1995, in Denver to Eric and Laura Davis. Her hobbies include working out, running and spending time with family and friends. She chose Colorado because of the location, the campus and the school pride. Natalie Vivaldi – 5-7 – Freshman – Oceanside, Calif. (Rancho Buena Vista) 
Kelly on Vivaldi—“Natalie is another talented California golfer that has seen the light and chosen to come to Colorado. Natalie is a fairly young golfer; she got a late start relative to most players her age and talent level. She is a natural athlete and hits the ball a long way. She is really enthusiastic about becoming a Buff and we are thrilled to have you on the team next season.” High School—A four-year letterwinner in golf at Rancho Buena Vista High School under coach David Emrick. She was named first-team All-CIF San Diego Section in both 2011 and ‘12 and was the sixth overall individual from the San Diego Section over that time period. She was an individual qualifier to the to the CIF Southern California Regionals in both 2011 and ’12. She won the 2011 Merced High School Girls Golf Invitational in 2011. She lists the biggest accomplishment in her high school career as qualifying for the Southern California Regionals as a junior in 2011. Other—She earned six consecutive top 5 finishes on the American Junior Golf Association Toyota Cup and USGA events from April to August 2012. In addition to that run in those events, she won the San Diego Junior Golf Association Junior Worlds Qualifier No. 1 at Escondido Country Club in Escondido, Calif., in June. She had five top 10 and four top 5 finishes in 2012 in SDJGA events. Best Career Round In Competition—70; twice, USGA Girls Junior Amateur Qualifier; Boulder Creek Golf Course, Boulder City, Nev.; and SCPGA Toyota Tour Cup, Santa Ana Country Club, Santa Ana, Calif. Academics—She intends to major in Business Administration at Colorado and is interested in a career in the golf industry after graduation. She was named a 2011-12 Scholar Athlete for maintaining above a 3.9 grade point average by the San Diego Union Tribune. Personal—Natalie Largent Vivaldi was born June 12, 1995, in Oceanside, Calif., to Gregory and Julie Davis. She has an older sister, Ali. Her hobbies include basketball, football and other outdoor activities. She began playing golf just three years ago and prior to that she was on a middle school basketball team that won three consecutive championships and compiled a 77-3 record. During the school year she interns at the El Camino Country Club and her family is close with Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy. She was a state finalist at California History Day her freshman year of high school. She chose Colorado because she loved the school, the city, coaches and players and wants to compete against the very best in the Pac-12. |
