CU's transport of students to Denver today-two issues

(this is the post of a mature grumpy old man who's kid is CU student, takes school seriously, has gone to every game since age 5, and will be highly employed immediately after higher ed)
-------------------

CU sponsored buses to Denver for the game today leave at something like 2 pm from Boulder

1. Any student that has a Friday afternoon class has two choices....skip class, or not get a ride from CU. CU is saying....don't go to class, or have an easy schedule with no Friday class.

2. Buses should arrive by 3 in a parking lot giving students three hours to do what? Yes, drink. I thought CU was trying to curb drinking opportunities and the party school image. Not to mention encourage better sportsmanship vs. csu.

Why wouldn't they run buses at 4 pm? Allows more students to finish class, less time for drinking in a parking lot and still allows for 2 hours of transit.
They know all the students want to go early and drink in the parking lot and do not want to encourage them to have to drive to do so.

The other reason CU won't wait till 4 to have the bus leave is that traffic becomes a nightmare on 36 for this game and just one accident would mean those that leave at four PM wouldn't make kickoff. The 35 minute drive becomes 1:15 if things go perfectly.

What exactly will a student miss for skipping classes on Friday during the first week of school?

We used to have kegs on the bus ride up to the game, fun times

As someone who was quite studious and regretted not missing more class for fun opportunities I would say. Skip class, you won't miss anything this first week an chances are your son will be able to ask someone next week to catch up.

Better to be early than late. I remember I took a C-Unit bus to the CSU basketball game and it arrived 15 mins after game time. Still pissed

I'm guessing that any student who scheduled classes for late afternoon on Fridays isn't at college to party and enjoy the sports teams.

I never had the problem being a business student. There were hardly any sections with Friday classes out there!

Your kid needs to loosen up and live a little. He/she has the rest of their life to be serious.

The proper method for attending CU is as follows:
Fall semester - three classes total, all on Tuesday and Thursday
Spring semester - three classes total, all on Tuesday and Thursday
Summer A - one class, any day since every night is a party in the summer
summer B - one class, any day since every night is a party in the summer

Out in five years.

This thread makes me wonder: Does anyone else ever have the panic dream where they show up for a final and realize they hadn't gone to the class all semester? A quarter-century removed from college and I still have those every once in a while.
yes. all the time.

EDIT: I guess not all the time, but yes

Yep.

That, and oddly enough I still have nightmares about waiting tables, which I also haven't done in a couple of decades.
