Depth vs Difference maker

We’ve had a couple difference makers. In recent years I put Paul Richardson and Philip Lindsey in the difference maker category. We are a deeper team than five years ago. I don’t know who the difference maker will be. I hope it is Montez. I hope we have two or three of them at once.

A whole lot of unknown on offense but Winfree and Shenault immediately come to mind. On defense, Lewis and Worthington for sure and I’m going to predict Miller and Callier as well. If the coaches get Lamdman on the field, I think he could be added to that group as well.

It’s going to be difficult for the coaches to keep Landman off the field, IMO. He’s a difference maker if he’s given the opportunity.

I would agree, but putting Landman on the field almost certainly requires taking Gamboa off, which the coaches have not shown they are willing to do very often.

I agree and I really don’t have a lot against Gamboa. He’s a heady, mostly reliable cog in the machinery. If he had better quickness, he’d be a top shelf, complete player. Landman needs game experience to blossom. We know what we have in Gamboa. We need to know what we have in Landman.

I think there are a couple that could emerge this year. Taylor, Moretti, Montez, Landman, McMillian, Winfree, Shanault, Abrams, Pursell, Miller and Lang seem like they could take steps forward this year to go along with Lewis, Worthington, Lynott and Haigler who seem like the big time players right now.

I think the main reason Landman didn’t play as much last year was due to the fact that he was just a freshman and who knows, maybe the coaches didn’t feel comfortable wjth him out there a bunch. My hunch is that they feel much more comfortable with him now and they will put him in for obvious passing downs where Gamboa can be a liability. I would like to think that Mac learned from last year that seniority doesn’t always mean better play
