Derek McCartney ESPN Article

Great story about Derek.

Not exactly excited that the Fusker son references 5th down.

Did he mention the sanded field & the 100 + slip and falls by Colorado players? Including the tight end who would have scored with less than a minute left had he not slipped at the 5 and fallen.

I'm still bitter. It's only been 27 years. Andy Reid and other creepy crawlers were on that missouri staff.

Oh, and congratulations Derek!

Great story ... and impressed at not only Derek's actions, but MM's as well. Mike really comes off great in that article.

Loved this quote: "He's got a little Buffalo blood running through him now!" MacIntyre said.

This one gave me the heebie-jeebies:

Early that morning, McCartney, the grandson of Hall of Fame Buffaloes coach Bill McCartney, arrived at a Bonfils Blood Center on the east side of Denver. He received his fifth and final set of hormone injections, and then large, bore IVs were inserted in each of his arms.

Ouuuch!! I think I'd hate that ... but then I wince when I get blood drawn for a test.

After 27 years, I thought that was a pretty clever joke and I laughed: “He gave him a 5th down.” :D

Very touching story and I glad ESPN is telling these good stories.

Take away his brains, looks, youth, athletic ability and tremendous heart...what do you have? Me :ROFLMAO:

Great job DMac!

Is there a Blood if the Buffalo award? His blood might be A-, but his good deed is A+
