Despite being new to social media, HCMM is already an expert

Very funny exchange with coach....

Shay is gonna get some revenge on a couple of early opponents from this year past, along with conf foes later on! May it start with Hawaii, but especially the goats. He is a handful and rising.

Yeah. Shay's gonna be a good one. I keep hearing that he wants it, which is half the battle. Probably why MM was comfortable needling him a bit.

Funny exchange. We've all been there. I was laughing and kind of feeling for Shay.

Forman tweeted that Rippy has been among the leaders in strength gains. Hoping the proverbial light bulb has gone on. It took Douglas a while and a lot of patience / mentoring from Cabral before he got it. Would be huge for the Buffs if Deaysean's potential turned into reality.

Mac seems to be being a bit more authoritative this off-season. Just from comments from staff and obviously the DC issue. Based on the results I wonder if he had a "come to jesus" meeting with Deaysean.

I really want to believe this but there are so many kids who love the gym more than the practice field. A lot of guys are workout warriors and they bring their B game to practice. I hope he turns the corner so badly though, I had/have high hopes.

I think you're right. I absolutely love that Shay's response was "yes coach". That's 100% respect. Based on his persona HCMM doesn't seem like someone who gets respect through fear and intimidation. He seems like the type who gets respect by proving to players that he cares about them and that he wants them to succeed.

Difference with Dayshean is he WASN'T a workout warrior in any senses of that term; he was a slacker in all phases.

For him to have become first a repped ST guy and then a WW, are perhaps huge signs he get "it", now.

The new guy on 4 showed the tweets during the 5:00 news. Hey, not much, but it's something. (News coverage, that is). Mac will prolly get hit with an NCAA violation for forcing a player to work out during the off season.

I can't believe that this story went viral. Slow news week, I guess.

Nik is that what he actually tweeted or did he tweet that Rippy had a certain Personal Best in bench or something (that's what I recall)? I just remember seeing it and thinking "maybe the light has gone on" and then I looked at the number and the tweet again and I just remember thinking that means really nothing at all.

Maybe I missed the tweet you are referring to, but I'll remain skeptical until I see it in a practice.

It was personal best of +25 Front Squat and +10 Bench Press. Reason for hope, not a suggestion that we shouldn't be skeptical.

Some notables who got called out as big movers:

George Frazier is +60 on Box Squat.
Tim Coleman is +45 on Box Squat.
Jordan Gehrke is +50 on Belt Squat.
Afolabi Laguda is +55 on Front Squat. (not sure when this was benchmarked)
Jordan Carrell is +50 on Front Squat. (again, not sure where benchmarked)
Tedric Thompson is +20 on Bench Press. (pleasant surprise - I was worried the neck injury might have kept him out of the weight room)
Lance Cottrell is +20 on Bench Press.

Several others were also mentioned on Bench Press, including Kenneth Olugbode, Shay Fields, Devin Ross and Cade Apsay for being +15. Diego Gonzalez got some run for both squat and bench.

I was glad to see some names show up that I had started to write off. I was also very happy to see Frazier and Coleman make such huge strides in their base power (two of my favorite players).

Frazier is a guy who can really cause some problems for other teams. On both sides of the ball. Love his game. I really hope we see a lot more of him next year.
