Senior tight end Patrick Devenny said either quarterback "is fine with us." The renewed competition should benefit both of them, he said.

"To just say, 'It's now Tyler,' the way I looked at it was, now there's a fair competition," Devenny said. "Either way, whoever is going to play is going to have to deserve it and earn it."

Tell me I'm just reading more into that comment than what he's actually saying.

Tell me whether you're reading that like I do.

Devenny is saying:

1) Previously, it was not a fair and open QB competition

2) He doesn't believe that Tyler has any job security and that being named the starter just means he has a fair chance to compete for the job

The way I'm reading it is.

1) The competition wasn't seen as fair before by at least part of the team and they believed TH wasn't given a fair shot.

2) He doesn't believe that TH is 'the guy' for the rest of the year, but at least he's being given a shot now, and tha CH is going to have to EARN and DESERVE his position as QB1

With two or  three weeks of practice, Devenny is likely a better QB than Tweedledum or Tweedledee. That's why he's a TE folks.....

I wondered whether Devenney could play QB...he was recruited as one, and he can obviously run...

Agree. I took it as a kid who doesn't do a lot of interviews answering a question without knowing (or peerhaps caring) that every word about the QB situation would be overly disected and discussed on the interwebs.

That's the way it reads to me.

Why is it even a competition? Last time I checked Cody was starting his coaching career and the team was Tyler's to run. 2 days sure does make a difference.

Dev's, Goree's, Kiesau's, Hawk's, Hansen's... a lot of odd quotes that seem to relate to different issues but have the same disjointed, confused, "I guess/I think/Maybe/Possibly" fog around them.

"Welcome to the Colorado Nebula... it's a cloud, really, not a true star system. We can recruit stars in... then they sit there. Stars don't come out."

Bumping an old thread with new Devenny comments.

Patrick Devenney’s TED Talk on his struggle with with ED:whistle: is brand new.

And his interview on the BuffStampede podcast is an impressive window into the post football life of a smart, likable Buff trying to make a difference.
