Did Davis Webb screwing the Buffs hit this season?

I remember in spring 2016, we were all pumped up about Davis Webb joining the Buffs while Sefo Liufau was on the mend. Suppose Webb did in fact start for the Buffs last season and Liufau redshirted which means Liufau would have been this year's starter, that would have meant Montez becomes the starter his junior season which is next season.

I hope opposing NFL teams cap his knees right after Eli Manning goes down with a season ending injury.
 
No. Had Webb come here, we would have followed one year of him up with one more year of Sefo at QB......with Montez in 2018. He was going to play at some point.

I'm good with Montez. He, like most QBs has to play through his mistakes to get better. It was going to happen this year or happen next year. Might as well be this year and hopefully we then have two more years of a veteran QB.

One thing I would absolutely like to see though is for M2 to start getting his back up QBs more meaningful time before they are forced to play due to injury, etc. Montez was forced in last year but with Noyer this season I'd like to see him get some series that aren't garbage time.

Either way Montez still lacks enough game experience. Which means he's roughly where he is now with one less year of eligibility left. You have to accept that most 1st year starters struggle and thats just the way it is.
 
It's the coaches job to recruit and fill out classes. If we/they are unhappy with talent they recruited us into (which I don't think is the case) they need to coach the players to be better and adapt their systems.

Watching UW game, Browning didn't drastically outplay us. Montez wasn't ready for prime time which hurt. They beat us in the trenches, with scheme and over all discipline. Saban and Peterson teams don't beat themselves. They are scheme sound and wait for you to make a mistake, breakdown, get tired and ride the momentum.

For the record, Screw Davis Webb.
