Did you know: Week 3

News Junkie
Welcome to this week's "Did you know?" It's our weekly collection of interesting facts and stats from ESPN Stats & Information and various Big 12 sports information departments, among other places.
  • The Big 12's leading tackler is from Iowa State ... again. Linebacker A.J. Klein has 26 tackles through two games, four more than the next best. Cyclones linebacker Jesse Smith led the league with 135 tackles in 2009.
  • Meanwhile, Kansas linebacker Justin Springer's 15-tackle performance last week alone would have placed him in the league's top 10, but he's second with 22 stops.
  • The Big 12 has the best record of any conference against BCS conference teams, at 5-2. The ACC and Big East are a combined 0-9.
  • Colorado receiver Scotty McKnight's streak of a reception in 39 consecutive games is the nation's longest.
  • Kansas State is 16-4 in its last 20 meetings with Iowa State.
  • Missouri's T.J. Moe is tied for the lead nationally in receptions with 23. Oklahoma's Ryan Broyles is third with 21, and the only other receiver besides Moe and Bowling Green's Kamar Jorden to top 20 catches in two games.
  • Oklahoma State receiver Justin Blackmon joins Broyles as the only other player in the Big 12 to top 100 yards receiving in both games this season, and is fourth in the nation with 18 catches, which is also tied with Texas A&M's Ryan Swope.
  • Texas has just one turnover so far this season, tied for seventh-fewest in college football behind the six remaining teams without a turnover.
  • Nebraska's streak of allowing fewer than 20 points to opponents has now reached 10 games. The next best? Four games. This is still, to me, the most impressive streak running in the Big 12.
  • Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville said before the season he wanted to a 60:40 pass-run ratio this season. Through two games, the Red Raiders have thrown the ball on 60.2 percent of their snaps.
  • Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez and Kansas State running back Daniel Thomas are tied for the most runs of longer than 20 yards, with six.
  • Martinez has the most runs of longer than 40 yards, with three.
  • Missouri has forced nine turnovers in two games this year, tied for the national lead with Florida and Idaho.
  • Baylor's all-time series with TCU is tied at 49-49-7.
  • This is just the second time TCU and Baylor have both been undefeated for their game. After two of those games, TCU has gone on to win or share the national title. The last time that happened was 1935.
  • Fourteen receivers have caught passes for Baylor in two games.
  • Texas quarterback Garrett Gilbert is just 3-of-15 on passes longer than 15 yards. Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez is just 1-of-7 on passes longer than 15 yards.
  • Everywhere else, Martinez is 20-of-25. Everywhere else, Gilbert is 33-of-43.
