Does Bisharat fit the new system a lot better?

Seems like we're going to be more about putting a body on a body in the trenches and for our RBs to hit the hole instead of waiting for influence blocks to develop.

Bisharat was not a guy to dodge defenders in the backfield or to burst from a stop/start counter action. But with what we have going on this year, can he be a primary ball carrier?

He's definitely a 3 down back. Catches well and picks up the blitzes.

In 2018 he had 21 carries for 143 yards (6.8 average) but after getting 1 carry in the UCLA game did not get the rock again the rest of the season.

not a bad thought. I wonder how much decision making Hagan is going to have on substitutions compared to what he used to have. Sounds like Tucker likes shuttling in RBs.

I think the powell numbers are pretty realistic. I suspect Bisharat and Mangham will split heavily. My bigger question is do the little backs from last year fit the new system?

I have seen nothing from Bisharat that says he has the instincts of a running back.

He dominated in HS because he was bigger, stronger, and mostly faster than the guys trying to tackle him.

I see people getting excited about a couple of big runs early in the have seen some other plays that looked to be openseason but those runs were against much lower level competition and the plays were blocked well enough that just about any back would have made a big gain on them. There were also some other carries that looked to have quality holes and instead he ran into people.

Hope I am completely wrong about him but right now in my view if he is getting significant carries our offense isn't going to be effective running the ball. He's a quality athlete but he isn't a natural RB. He came to CU because the other schools that offered him wanted him to move to LB. That evaluation so far has looked to be accurate.

Not really.
If Smith can get up to 200 or so, he can be a very effective back in any offense. You don't have to be 220 to be an effective back running straight forward. Phil runs a physical style, and as we know, he wasn't a big back. I worry more about Broussard because he's so short. Jarek is very talented though.

I think we'll see how things play out in spring, and if MT thinks these guys and Fontenot aren't going to fit into the offense, there's obviously a possibility they could transfer. In fact, I'm pretty sure we're going to see some transfers after the spring. Whether it's because players don't like the new staff because they're encouraged to look elsewhere, or because they don't think the new systems fit them.

Smith's size isn't a problem. He is not a scat back.

I'm curious how Broussard will be used, though.
I just figured when you replied to the other post, you were talking about Smith, Broussard, and Fontenot. Yeah, Fontenot and Smith have the frame to carry more than enough weight.
