Maybe 15-20 minutes after the game, the Fox talking heads were discussing CU's chances of getting into the playoff (!). Last year, Oklahoma was #15 in the first BCS poll and won out and got in. They said with the opportunity to beat 3 ranked teams in 4 weeks, and then maybe a bunch of chaos happens in the Top 10, and who knows ... yes, VERY far fetched, but can you imagine this even being discussed on national TV just 2 months ago? Craziness.

Oklahoma was a 1 loss team when they opened at #15, though. In theory it shouldn't matter, as the first ranking is where the committee thinks you belong, based on your body of work up to that point. I just have a very hard time believing a 2 loss CU team makes the same kind of ranking jumps and gets in this year, short of some very unexpected chaos in the top 10

It would take a lot of craziness to happen. But given last night the team needs to get their head back in the game.

UA played UW to OT at their field. I want the team to come out strong in the last 3 games.

Strangest thing about this season, though, is the lack of 1-loss teams after 8 games. So much of the Top 25 has 2 losses that the Buffs are only the 6th highest ranked 2-loss team but still came in at #15.

Yeah, it is next to impossible, especially with 2 losses ... but for them to even talk about it with a straight face, wow ... thought I was in some twilight zone.

Not "next to impossible". As said above, OU was #15 and got in last year. CU 2001 had 2 losses and was #3 heading into bowls, behind a team it just destroyed. There is always chaos. For a 2 loss team, there needs to be only slightly more chaos than normal.

Oh, and CU needs to look a lot better than it did last night.

I think @seattlebuff 's point wasn't how realistic it is for the Buffs to make the playoffs, but the mere fact that this conversation even exists on national TV. Now if we win the next 3, this conversation becomes really intriguing. Ain't it fun?! Love the fact that there's even a thread in AB about this.

We would need the Buffs and Huskies to win out and Utah keep winning until they visit Boulder, then the Buffs beat the Huskies in San Fran. In this scenario Utah stays ranked, but I doubt WSU does with 2 losses at the end. USC would have a loss to UW so they probably don't finished ranked either. Only 3 Pac-12 teams ranked doesn't help us. Then just need a lot of other domino's to fall.

Exactly. The possibility is certainly exciting, but its more about how quickly we've gone from national joke to contender ... at least in the national media's eyes.

USC winning at Washington to finish 9-3 with the Buffs beating an 11-1 and top 10 ranked Washington in the P12C might be our best case scenario. That would land UW, UU, USC and Stanford in the Top 25 along with CU.

Good point. I'm thinking beating an undefeated and top 4 team in Washington is the best case. That's really the only potential win we could hang our hat on to be in the conversation with 2 losses. With a 1 loss A&M getting the 4th spot over an undefeated Wash this week it shows the Pac-12 isn't getting much respect, as well as Wash's non-con schedule.

Whatever, I just want to beat Arizona next week.

They base the CFP on resume, and A&M has the resume over UW for now. ****ty OOC by UW needs to be punished. UW won't be left out if they win out and A&M win out.
