DP Article: Embree wants No Huddle Offense to play much faster

Uhh...okay. I thought we were running a pro-style O?
definitions are confusing here. lot's of pro teams go no huddle a lot now (Tom Brady is very good with it, and Peyton has done it for a while). Think of it as a no-huddle pro-style O :smile2:

Well if they can run it, I'm sure we can manage!

I can't help but think about how the mighty Buffaloes are going to emerge as the victors on October 27th.

I'm Pro-Embree but this is absurd. We have no playmakers whatsoever so why would we want to speed up the game which in return increases plays in the game? And its not like our defense is that good either. With this roster we should be looking to decrease plays attempted and shorten the game. We are not putting our players in the best position to succeed/win. Bad coaching Embree!

I like the idea. A well conditioned team at altitude can wear down an opponent quickly, and cause them to make mistakes trying to adjust. I hope it works.

EB's running back rotation will be interesting to watch now. He has to get more guys involved and it has to be early in games too.

No huddle? WTF? Haven't we been through enough already. Just line the guys up in the I formation, like Barney used to do, and POUND IT. Manage the clock, control the ball, and play defense. Why make things complicated???

I'm not sure I saw a well conditioned team out there on Saturday.

Our O-Line wore out in the 1st half (not that they were useful before) from the no-huddle, and it was not an option in the 2nd half.

I don't see a problem with going no huddle at times. I don't think Embree or EB ever viewed it as something to do for the whole game. Besides, better to get more familiar with it against Sac State.

Also from the DP, according ASU's new coach who is one of experts of the no-huddle (albeit serious douchebag):

"But it is hard. I'll tell you what happens. People will go to it and they'll abandon it because it's not this quick, magical thing that happened. It takes time.
"It'll take us three years to get in shape to run the pace we want to run."

This site is going to turn into a perpetual bitch and moan session (not that it hasn't already).

At the game Saturday, it was, like, 95. I thought we were the team that got gassed.

The "Pro-Style No Huddle" can be very successful. But unlike the pro's, players win games in college. Scheme all you want, we need deadly speed and much better blocking to make it work. As well as a QB who can lead it.

I've shut down my bowl hopes for the year. I just want to see improvement from week to week now. I was impressed with our freshman players in their first game. But DAMN do we need help on the OLine.

I don't understand this decision either.
